Most of the time, racetams don't work well for me at all. Piracetam tends to make me SUPER sleepy, especially in doses of over a gram with a choline source (usually I use 300-600mg of AGPC). The first time I tried phenylpiracetam I felt super intelligent for about 20 minutes and then felt tired the rest of the day, and subsequent doses haven't worked. Aniracetam was especially weird. First time I had it, I didn't feel too much. Second time I felt like time was moving slower, and third time or so, I felt super intelligent all day. Every time after that it just made me somewhat tired though. Noopept seems to work quite well, but I think on occasion it will make me tired.

The general trend I'm noticing is that even with adequate choline supplementation, racetams only seem to work (extremely well) very briefly and then just be deleterious to cognition. In fact, choline seems to make the sleepiness worse with piracetam. Does anyone have any idea what could be different with me chemistry-wise to explain this?

Do you currently take a multi vitamin or at least a B complex? I am not saying that is the direct cause but if not it would surely help.

How about your diet mercury, are you a small eater, vegan or vegetarian? As johnny said do you take any other forms of supplementation. What time of day do you take them and also do you take piracetam sublingually or orally? All of this can make a huge difference

Hi everyone, and thanks for the responses. I don't usually take a multivitamin, although, I have some centrum Men under 50 available. I recently started taking some supplements based on Isochroma-Reborn's advice in regards to providing nourishment for the brain:

In the morning on empty stomach: 500mg vitamin C, 1.5 grams ALCAR, 1 gram tyrosine, 5mg Sunifiram.
With a meal (either lunch or dinner): 100%DV magnesium glycinate chelate, 250mg thiamin, 50mg zinc.
Also, about 8 grams of fish oil throughout the day.

My diet is fairly small, I don't eat too much. Although it is mostly carbs though - I eat a lot of pasta, rice, bread, etc. There's also a good amount of protein (nuts, beans, chicken, beef) and I drink mostly water, some fruit/vegetable juice. I have largely removed dairy because of a suggestion on another topic. It said that cow's milk shouldn't be consumed by adults and can the source of brain fog for many people - and it certianly seems so for me.

For piracetam, I was taking it in oral doses of about 2-3 grams when it made me unbearably sleepy. This effect was most pronounced with 300-600mg of alpha-gpc added. When I take around 1 gram (with or without choline) I just get a change in the perception of color, and nothing else noticable. With all of my racetams I have taken them orally.

I haven't tried using racetams again yet while on the supplements I mentioned above, but can anyone else confirm their good? (what Isochoma claims)

All of the vitamins that were suggested are great things to take. But like I said before B vitamins can help in your energy levels, and I am not sure on what you are eating in terms of carbs but consuming foods that can help to keep your blood sugar stable may help (high fiber low GI foods). This and how physically active are you? Usually getting a little bit of exercise can be a great thing.

Try high (500mg - 1g) dosages of Vitamin B-5. Maybe that will help with your adrenals, which should help piracetam work better. Also, there's the usual thing of B-vitamins, L-glutamic acid (10 - 100mg), calcium, etc. Take choline hours apart (maybe at night) from piracetam, not with piracetam.
