I space out a lot during the day, and it causes a lot of time to be wasted backtracking and going over again what I'm doing. Are there any supplements that are good for preventing these lapses? It would be great if it would keep me from spacing out while not reducing my cognitive ability (as is the case with caffeine, which, by the way, makes me groggy and puts me in a fog).

you should give a try to :
-ALCAR
-L-tyrosine (both of these on an empty stomach)
-DMAE or centrophenoxine or CDP-choline (citicoline) to which you could add uridine
-you should probably add fish oil high in DHA to any of those if you're not already taking it
-small doses of rhodiola

I think ALCAR is pretty effective for this problem, L-tyrosine also but both lose efficacy after a while so you should probably cycle them.
Now of course a very effective thing would be adrafinil or modafinil but you talked about "supplements" not drugs...

There are a lot of potentially helpful stuff I'm forgetting about right now and no doubt other ppl here will have a lot more suggestions...

Coconut oil at doses of at least 20g/day, preferably at once. 40g 2x a day should do the trick. The Medium Chain Triglycerides in coconut oil are rapidly absorbed into fuel for the brain. Excellent for clearing away brain fog. Also eat lots of leafy green raw vegetables preferably organic, most importantly raw. So essentially... coconut salad.

Wow, that's a serious recipe for "blow a hole throw the bottom of your pants".

LOL I concur. Processed MCT seems particular troublesome. Plain raw coconut oil not so much (for me).

I'm not sure such a thing exists.

I only notice smoother poops. But then again I'm bulking at around 4000 cals so I get a lot of fibre and other stuff to keep it cool. Generally as long as your diet is good side effects from nootropics are minimal.

1/ Might this be connected to your blood sugar? What are you eating on a typical day?

2/ Can you can make what you are doing more interesting? Approaching work and tasks in a new way?

3/ Are you working on a computer most of the time?

have been trying out various supplements, adaptogens and medications over the past year for cognitive impairment, brainfog, spacing out, terrible memory (plus anhedonia and emotional bluntness, but thats another thing)
long story short, i took a shitload of things. Honestly, it is hard to say what did not work and what did, and if so, to what extent. My instinct tells me that EPA/DHA and uridine are a combo that seem to work. Bacopa seemed to work too, but made waking up in the morning more difficult for me. Sulbutiamine seems to work, from time to time. Aniracetam i have some doubts.
What did not work for me was stuff like ashwaghanda, gotu kola, schizandra, dmae, NAC.
Long story short, i have a cabinet full of bottles. If your problem is serious, i'd go for some more serious medication, afterall theres a reason some things are available OTC and others not
