Hi,

I guess quite a few of you won't have had any experience with this but I was wondering if anyone has any advice about international shipping from the US, in my case, to the UK. I'm planning to setup a mail forwarding address (with usglobalmail.com) to get around the problem of US suppliers that only provide domestic shipping. I'm thinking specifically here about customnutritionwarehouse.com - they seem to have a great selection of products as bulk powders (I'm hoping to reduce costs by capping my own). uniquenutrition.net look good too, but they're not so much of a one-stop-shop, yet.

So, what I'm really wondering is...

1) Should I make a customs declaration (the mail forwarding company has a control panel where you can set this up, parcel by parcel)?

2) If I do, what should I put - 'Nutrition Supplements' or something similar?

3) Is it wise to, erm, slightly underestimate the cost of the contents (I'm thinking of ordering about $100 worth to kick off with)?

4) How likely is it that customs will investigate the package?

4) If customs decide that there is duty owing (is this likely?), how do they collect?

I guess this is a slightly dodgy area, but I am genuinely in the dark about this sort of thing, so any comments or suggestions are very welcome ;)

Try asking over at bulknutrition or avant forums since they have many intl. customers.
I never had any problems with bulk powders (i'm in east europe).
1. 2. just put vitamins, sport supplements, protein or whatever, that's what even big companies put
3. sure i always tell them put put less value just in case
4. depends on country and content, some stuff is ilegal in some countries
5. don't know about uk, but here if it's sent by regular post then you get a notice to come pick up the package at post office and pay for it. If it's UPS or Fedex they usually go thru customs for you and bring it to your door where you pay for duties.

Thanks for the tips DS.

Can I ask who your favourite supplier(s) are? Don't suppose you've found anywhere good for Pikamilone...?

So far I shopped on bulknutrition.com and nutraplanet.com for bulk powders, on biogenesis.co.za for deprenyl and hydergine, and puritan.com (better link is puritansale.com) for fish oil, vit c...i had a good experience with all of them.
Two days ago I made an order with uniquenutrition.com for some powders, and they also offered to get me some powders from customnutritionwarehouse.com which is great. Will post experience with them when the order arrives.
As for picamilone look on these sites, i didn't need it so i didn't look for it.

That's fantastic that uniquenutrition offered to get stuff from CNW for you. I might have to have a little chat with them too... ;) Look forward to hearing how you get on.
