So I have an interesting issue on my hands and I feel like I should employ some intelligent help from you forum members... I recently suffered a severe concussion and have lasting side effects - sedation, fatigue, general slowness - I'm just not myself. I'm having a hard time putting memories together and using long term memory not short-term memory.

I've been KO'd before but this time was a pretty hard impact - enough to fracture a bone... I have a history of fights and can say if I hit someone as hard as I was hit I would actually have been worried and called 911 for them.

I'm wondering if I need to modify my nootropics at all, if there is any medication I could start taking - any new dose I could try - I have NMDA antagonists(like memantine), plenty of piracetam, noopept, choline, and a bit of phenylracetam. I've never had issues even with insane doses of noopept up to 300mg so I'm willing to try anything really. I have enough for at least of a month regimen of piracetam, phenylracetam, noopept and any other medication I've listed. I'm prescribed Dronabinol - THC - which is supposed to be neuroprotective but 40mg will only do so much and I'm not a stoner, at least not anymore so I don't smoke weed as well. I have a doctor that literally will write anything if I can prove its a legitimate use hence the dronabinol and multiple GABA-ergics.

The supplements or nootropics I'm currently taking:
2400mg Piracetam (1.2g 2x Daily)
100mg Phenylracetam (50mg 2x Daily)
100mg Noopept (50mg 2x Daily)
3gr Choline Bitartrate (1gr 3x Daily)
5mg Methylcobalamin
500mg Omega 3, 500mg Omega 6, 500mg Omega 9 Oils with 2 grams of Vitamin E (Yes I know the E is overkill, but it is for a medical purpose)
0.5 Melatonin with 100mg 5-HTP at night

What I actually need to take:
500mg Levetiractam (250mg 2x Daily) for Epilepsy (Not-Needed, but apparently it helps "break-through" seizures") + 200mg Vitamin B6 to offset psychiatric side effects of keppra.
1500mg Valproic Semisodium (500mg 3x Daily) for Epilepsy
40mg Dronabinol for Myoclonus(Epilepsy)

What I'm prescribed for non-physical health issues:
Mirtazapine 90mg
Pramipexole 0.5mg
Tramadol 300mg (100mg 3x Daily)
Baclofen 60mg (20mg 3x Daily)
Valium 10mg (Up to 40mg, only when needed however.)

Thanks for the time and any recommendations are greatly appreciated. I'm a research subject at John Hopkins so any help will actually benefit the health-care system not just me. I was prescribed the THC pill after I mentioned smoking a joint relieved my myoclonic epilepsy and levetiracetam after I mentioned piracetam also helped the myoclonus. My doctors are extremely open to my recommendations and a pubmed study is literally all the evidence I need for them to try something.

Much love,

I doubt these nootropics will do much for you while taking that much Tramadol. You'll be high all day and not in a good way either. I would reduce the dosage to 50mg and space out 6 hours between each dose at the very least.
Best of luck.

Your right - I'm not high off the tramadol but I won't argue that besides the fact that you need to take in mind I'm just under 7ft tall and weigh over 200lbs, young and take medications that may be making the tramadol clear faster. But I did some reading and found opiates suppress neurogenesis so I'll be starting a taper today. I already have 100mg in me and will just be taking 50mg at a time from now on unless anyone else has a better suggestion - I have naltrexone - when should I start this and what dose to reverse opiate post acute withdrawal?

Now that I'm losing Tramadol - I need another Serotonin releaser and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor... suggestions?

Hi, I'm usually a lurker, but since I have also experienced a TBI, I thought I would share a few of my experiences. My TBI was mild compared to many, but it still left some verbal, memory and cognitive deficit.

I am not so sure about the best supplements to take - for me, ginkgo was a HUGE benefit and allowed me to form sentences again and to remember words and things. I am not so sure that there is no bleeding risk with it.....

What was extremely critical to my recovery was a form of chiropractic called NUUCA - it is very very gentle, and focuses on the upper cervical. Apparently my neck/spine angle was so far off when it was measured, that it was one of the worst the chiro had seen. I did that for several years, but now I see a regular chiropractor, though I did try several before I found the one that understood "my neck" and my issues.

I combined the chiro with myofasicial release, a massage therapy developed by a fellow named Barnes. My therapist was also a Reiki Master, so she had a special touch. I think a modality like that, or something like cranial sacral therapy can be very powerful. I'm sure that there are different therapies out there that can get similar results through different means, but I would encourage you to experiment to see what would work with you. Of course, finding a gentle practitioner would be very important. Now I use regular deep tissue massage together with chiropractic, which helps my brain function, and also helps keep my vision at its best. I remember having a lot of anger issues before seeking out the NUUCA practitioner, and now, if I have anger, anxiety, or profound fatigue, those are signs for me that I need an adjustment, or some form of body work.

For me, the homeopathic remedy Natrum Sulphuricum helped my head and neck a lot, but homeopathy is tricky and can be very individual, so a different remedy might be more helpful to you.

I seem to trip over this sight often when I'm researching different things. Today I was looking into Alpha GPC300. To be honest, I don't understand many of the conversations here...... Things that have helped me also include things like St. John's Wort, and also DLPA, but I don't know if that is related to the TBI or not.... and now that I think about it, after the TBI, I had a lot of problems with temperature regulation - I would get terrible hot flashes. I used a hypothalamic (sp?) glandular from Standard Process that with that helped a lot.

This will sound insane to those who know of pharmacology and pharmokinetics but I'm currently megadosing Noopept in quite... large doses... I've topped out at about 100mg sublingual, 100mg by capsule twice daily so 400mg total... woah.
I'm spacing these out and giving my body time to absorb the doses, with enough choline and with the omega 3,6 and 9's.

Doesn't pramipexole work as a nootropic? Would this be better than an NMDA antagonist like namenda in combination with noopept and racetams?

Keep in mind, if there was ever a "lab-rat" on this board, I am the one... I literally say the world and the GOVERMENT(NIH) will try a drug on me if I can show it's worthwhile so I have plenty of options.

I'm a chemist, look - you can tell by my writings I'm coherent but chemistry is work and hard work. I want to be able to restore cognition if not make it better. I'm sure the creed here follows my saying.

Still looking for a prescription replacement for Tramadol/Venlafaxine and maybe Mirtazapine as well...

Is the Mirtazapine doing damage? I'm at 90mg and am thinking of increasing the dose since I'm removing all these sedatives - Diazapam, Tramadol, Baclofen... I'm leaving them for now - I'm Stable at 150mg Tramadol daily instead of 300mg, 20mg of diazapam, and completely off the baclofen... going to start tapering more in another 24hrs for the blood levels to start dropping on the tramadol. Then take it 25mg at a time to try and get past as much PAWS as possible. I'm most likely going to be going to doing an insane at-home rapid naltrexone detox. I've done alot worse and I have alot of hippy doctors surrounding me so things would never get too bad besides me screaming that "I feel like shit"

I found a study saying "ultra-high dose" (sounds legit) Methylcobalamin repairs nerves? Well I found a few, here is one:
http://www.ncbi.nlm..../pubmed/8021696

I've been taking it since... the concussion at 5-10mg daily... So I guess I'm reeping those benefits? Will taking regular Cyano-B12 reverse this effect?

So anyways; topic of the story is possible concussion/TBI, neurogenesis, how to do it...

Youll have to relearn your brain again after fixing it with drugs
