One of my New Years resolutions is to get my telomeres' length measured, and then start a regimen to make them longer. I would like to systematically measure my progress or lack of progress.

I just spent several hours surfing Longecity trying to find a lab to get my telomeres tested. I would prefer a full histogram, as opposed to just measuring the mean length.

I got these two recommendations from different post:
http://telomehealth.com/
http://www.spectracell.com

The first one stopped offering test, and will resume sometimes in 2014.
The second one, doesn't seem to have a link where I can just order the test.

I was thinking of starting with astralagus and epitalon as a treatment to make them longer.

Could anyone suggest to me a quick easy accurate way to get my telomeres measured?

Any suggestions about astralagus, epitalon or anything else?
Where to buy? What not to buy? Anything else to try, besides these two?

Thanks,
Clark

I have contacted all four companies listed here http://www.telomeretesting.net/
TeloMe is not offering access, except as part of their research studies.
So I guess I have to just sit and wait for someone to get back to me.

How confident are you that telomere length matters?

I am not entirely confident that it matters. This is an experiment and a learning process.

Resurrecting a two year old thread.

I'm curious if you got your telomeres measured and if you were able to measure the effect of any telomere activators that you might have tried.

I am not convinced that telomere testing yields results applicable for all the tissues in the body, only for the sample tissue (blood) sampled.  I am also not convinced, at least seen no evidence, that the commercial telomerase activators actually activate telomerase in all the tissues of the body.

Telomere length is going to vary within the body from tissue to tissue.

What evidence is there of the bioavailability of the over the counter supplements?  Do they really survive the digestive process?  Do they activate telomerase in skin, muscle, blood, and all the internal organs?

The OTC telomerase inducers have not been shown to work in all tissues.  (Nor have they been shown to NOT work in all tissues.)  Cycloastragenol has the best evidence, AFAIK.

It matters,   it's just not the only thing

The question is how does it matter,  and what else is required in conjunction with it for it to matter as much as it seems to.
