This decision came as Geron (NASDAQ:GERN) was gearing up for the world's first attempt to carefully test the cells in people, which has been the focus of a lot of apprehension due to safety worries.
Its interesting how this all links together, Michael West founded Geron. He even called up Leonard Hayflick (then in retirement) back in the day, and Leonard shipped a truck load of his old equipment to them. After they created the immortal cells, of course the next big thing, the big test, the big pay off was going to be to see if they could get it to work in humans. It looks like this is a judge blocking everything we are about. If all of the indefinite life extension communities work were to culminate in points that pay off for the main goal then it looks like this could be one of them.
