Hi all. I've read that Galantamine should taste bitter and is water soluble. The very expensive caps I've purchased from Health Supplement Wholesalers contain powder that has no discernable taste and is impossible to dissolve. Does this seem dodgy? Have I been burned here? Anyone have experience with this product or this company more generally? Any thoughts much appreciated.

I've never used galantamine, but the active dose is something like 2-8 mg. I would assume any capsule contains hundreds of milligrams of filler, so you are looking at maybe a 50-1 filler to active ingredient ratio, so I wouldn't expect whatever powder is in those capsules to have the properties of pure galantamine. This is all assuming that those are caps with filler in them. HSW is considered to be pretty reputable on the nootropics reddit, but I've personally never ordered from them.

Thanks for your response! I'm glad to hear that HSW have a decent reputation. I think my suspicions were partly aroused by the relentlessly glowing reviews on Amazon (under Build Your Own Blend moniker) that somehow didn't seem plausible. Good point about the filler - active ingredient ratio, although the descriptions of taste and solubility elsewhere refer to branded products such as Reminyl which presumably also have a similar composition (but of course may contain different ingredients and fillers). I'll update this thread in due course when I have a better sense of any effects. I'm starting with 4-8mg daytime for strictly nootropic purposes and to test responses before exploring the oneironautic potential of the substance after dark.

I'm very happy to report back that HSW Galantamine is undoubtedly genuine. At 4mg I have had some intense and vivid dreams and a not unpleasant sleep paralysis (hypnogogic lucidity?) thankfully without any unwanted visitations. At 8mg I have had extended lucid dreams unlike anything previously experienced. Exactly what I was after. One satisfied customer.

I get my galantamine from people that created it as I get my chinese herbs from chinese shops as they are more likely to be real.

But western food you get ripped off at immigrant shops in my experience the meat on the bones is so little.
