The embargo...

1. hurts the Cuban people, not the government. We are denying them food, clean water, medicine, clothing, and cars.

2. has lasted over 50 years yet nothing has come of it. There is no purpose of keeping an embargo, that originated during the Cold War era, on a country .

3. allows thousands of Cubans to risk their lives to cross 90 miles of ocean to get to Florida.

4. lets American people be punished because they're caught with Cuban products. Why should we put our own people behind bars when the intent of the embargo was to hurt Cuba's government?

5. does a lot more harm than it does good.

The embargo is hurting the Cuban people and not doing anything to help democracy. It costs the US billions of dollars to keep. The embargo is ridiculous. Just because we didn't (and still don't) agree with their government doesn't mean we should hurt both countries.

Petitions to Obama are completely worthless.

The petition qualified for an official response on June 24, 2013.

It says they reserve the right to respond on certain petitions. They have responded to a big portion though. Ending the embargo isn't as controversial as pardoning Snowden...

Oh I'd say it is just as controversial. The right wing Cubans in Florida would be up in arms, and besides, the US government never admits it made a mistake. Certainly not a sixty year mistake.
