I've purchased 700 grams of piracetam bulkpowder about 4 months ago. Up until 2 weeks ago, the stuff didn't smell too bad. It had a (the usual?) bitter smell, and similar taste. However, after 2 weeks of being exposed to relatively high temperatures (28-33 degrees celcius - 82-91 Fahrenheit), the smell seems to have gone bad. Bit of a nasty chemical, spoilt smell. Not sure how to describe it excatly.

Should I've kept the powder in a colder environment during these temperatures? And is it still consumable/effective?

No, not at all. I just thought I'd leave it out for now, because my intention wasn't to start some discussion over who has the best and trustworthiest products (especially not purity;]). That, and I'm very pleased with the service the company has provided so far. But seeing that your question is pretty relevant, I can't really leave the info out. The powder was ordered from 1Fast400 and the posted COA at the time mentioned a manufacturing date somewhere in 2003, if I'm not mistaken.

The current COA on the site says m/d 27 Feb 2005 so maybe I should play it safe and order a new batch. Then again, I have some 500 grams left in the container, so it would be kind of a waste to just get rid of it.

I see that some providers of piracetam suggest storage at room temperature. We rarely get such warm temperatures as you describe but may get a week or two of such shortly within the next couple of months. I may put it in my fridge during those heat spells. Will cold compromise its efficacy or safety? Got mine from the same source.

I don't think the temperature is the problem in this case. Did you store your piracetam in a dry, moisture free place?

I hold my boxes of powder in a store room, it's cold and dark there. I use a small boxes to put amount for about 2 weeks which i hold in my kitchen. And as for piracetam, considering how cheap it is...maybe it would be best to order new, why risk it for such small amount of money

Yeah, the room itself has been pretty dry and moist free, as far as subjective experience can tell. On occasion I might have used a slightly wet teaspoon to scoop out the piracetam (don't cap any supplements), though. The thought occured to me already that that method might cause a detrimental reaction of some sort. But even if that was the case, it's strange the odor didn't change at all up until 4 months later. Could that have caused it?

The scent seems to be changing by the day now, current status is very sour, even acidlike. I've generally tended to avoid ingesting acid-like substances for quite a few years now, so maybe it'd be safer to switch to aniracetam for a while...

True, the stuff itself not that expensive. The expensive part is in shipping it to the Netherlands ;]

[:o] I have no bio-chemical background whatsoever, but I would throw it away before it makes a hole in your floor. [lol]

I keep most of my powders tucked away in the fridge and find no problems with doing so. My piracetam also is from BN and it dosn't smell bad at all.

Lemon, I don't this this is the best way to store it. I just found my Piracetam leaflet which states that piracetam should be kept between the 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.

It's actually eating away at my table as we speak [":)]

I guess the question now is, still attempt to throw the stuff away or abandon the premises altogether? ;]
