"700 new neurons are added every day, corresponding to an annual turnover of 1.75% of the neurons in the renewing fraction." (Published in Cell, 2013).

The experiment was conducted in humans and used carbon-14 to figure out how many new neurons were born since the atomic bomb test (in a population of people born prior to the bomb test). Pretty ingenious experiment really. Read more here: [LR]

Let's chronicle everything in the damn universe that shows promise in enhancing neurogenesis. Meanwhile, we can also debate the functional significance of neurogenesis- whether it's all it's cracked up to be. Here's 7 to start:

1. NSAIDS

2. Taurine

3. Exercise

4. Allopregnanolone

5. Antidepressants

6. Thyroid hormone

7. Coitus

Were concerns about creutzfeldt-jakob disease and cerebrolysin ever resolved? There just has to be a better way to get those neurotropic factors in your brain than injecting a goulash of porcine brains intramuscularly.

Neurotrophic doesn't necessarily grow new neurons, especially in adults. What you are mostly going to get is increased axonal and dendritic connections, which is, of course, great. I'll add:

Bacopa
Curcumin
Buspar + Melatonin (Only works in combo)
Idebendone
Lion's Mane

Many Antidepressants
ALCAR

This thread might stay productive if we don't list barely understood research chemicals and things we don't even have access to.

Thought-meditation is the best observing awareness. Also Neurogenesis is the least in the beginning of the month and most at the end of the month it's to make humans rely less on that and more on consciousness and thoughts so to require less and improve.

The brain is always changing with time for better or worse. Drugs induce a forced change that can become the new norm for the person if their thoughts adjust otherwise their thinking will take them back to previous state.
