We are seeking a self-motivated research scientist with expertise in cell biology to join a small, private research lab in Bergen County, NJ that focuses on translational aging biology. This position will be responsible for ensuring proper growth and health of cells, cell experiments, running various biomarker assays in cells and other biological samples and routine lab maintenance. Hours are somewhat flexible, but ability to work at least part of one weekend day would be helpful. The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Prefer PhD but BS/MS with 2-5 years solid cell culture experience is suitable
  • Experience performing cell culture in a biological research lab
  • Experience with and knowledge of modern cell and stem cell culture techniques including: sterile cell culture, cell passaging/plating, cell-based assays including viability, proliferation, toxicity, mitochondrial function, redox and stress responses
  • Experience with viral transfection systems a plus
  • Knowledge of and interest in aging biology
  • A goal-oriented, team player
  • Attention to laboratory safety and understanding of good lab practices is essential
  • Attention to detail and quality record keeping
  • Ability to work occasional weekends
  • Ability to travel regularly to the lab
