Hallo people i hope u have answers for
Me :))

I experience many times when i drink, that i dont really feel seretonin or something..
It actualy
Makes me even more than i am emotionaly dull but if i drink reaaally a lot , the next day
I dont feel emotionally
Dull. I can cry. I can laugh .. I have all day great mood but i dont suffer
From emotional dullness anymore for the whole day after excessive drinking

Any clue what is wrong with my brain?

Ive had a normal blood test where they measured
Seretonin level which was
Low but the doctor said that resut isnt
That much meaningful since hes waiting for the blood test where i have to pay a lot of money to test my proper seretonin levels..

But does it probably come from low seretonin levels or does it have to do with gaba, glutamin, amino acid defieacy or something???

Background storY: 8 years feeling of depression and tiredness and compulsive thinking, and since
Ive taken n-acetyl-cystine (NAC) i think more positive and more energy but still emotionaly kinda dull

On another thread you  mentioned you smoked weed, do you still consume cannabis on a regular basis ?

I. Stopped smoking nikotin for 5 weeks , in any form, dont drink (for 6 weeks) .. Weed i smoked the last time 7 weeks ago and smoked it only once a week or every second..

So at the moment what im doing is a lot of sport which gives a seretonin kick most of the time, but doesnt take the emotional bluntness away.. Maybe 5-10 percent out of 100. %

Only taking 2 capsules of nac and a fee vit c at
The moment and magnesium.. But not more since i have an expensive blood test being made soon...

yeh dude, so on a standard day, you wouldn't be able to cry or laugh in comparison to a 'normal' individual ?

Do you think weed has made you a bit dull, and you've kind of lost you personality, as well as social skills over time? This is the case for me as well

7 weeks is nothing btw.

I recently abstained from cannabis for approximately 5 months. Didn't notice improvements at all till the 3rd month. The laughing did improve, and i can remember a couple of occasions in which i was laughing so much it hurt, but still i felt there was much more improvement to be made. i'd say the emotional numbness improved by at least 25% in 5 months...

You say n-acetyl-cystine (NAC) works well for you right ? I'm not as intelligent as most people on this forum but it could be possible you have too much glutamate in your brain, which is accompanied by a state of high acetylcholine, which affects serotonin and causes the emotional numbness. I think this is the most basic way to say it.

Personally, i would suggest going on a gluten free diet for a small period of time, but you should ask the intelligent guys to verify my advice. Get some vitamin K, curcumin, theanine & taurine. I think you should see good improvements in the upcoming weeks.

Keep it up with the sports.

I laugh a lot, nac helps a lot for that 2 but i always laughed.. But never feel seretonin my my body while laughing.. Its rare that i do..., i can cry but only have tears, no sad emotions... But day after heavy drinkingg i have deep sad emotions when crying and i enjoy it a lot..

I never smoked much weed.. And werent addicted..so i really dont think that my emotional dullness comes frm weed.. I think it comes from the stress i had (parents, school)
.. And perhaps because i have low seretonin levels (also habe fructose intolerance)...

Will try 5htp tomorrow though

Okay, but be careful with 5htp, i've read about some people getting serious cardiovascular complications that they say arose from use of 5-htp

well apparently if taking large amounts for a sustained period of time, you can get cardiac valvopathies or something...

I couldn't find a journal, but i've seen people on this forum and bluelight  convinced their heart problems are a result of 5-htp supplementation.

Well i am no expert, but i would think the constant availability of serotonin pre-cursor would cause long term decreased serotonin neurotransmission ? probably through some sort of down-regulation of receptors, and this probably has a knock on effect on other neurotransmitters ( which is probably reversible after a few weeks of abstinence)

So if i get that right.. The thing what you are thinking might be is that im dependent on seretonin boostets for my entite life?

no, i think another mechanism is causing your low serotonin, for example people with high acetylcholine have low serotonin...

The brains way too complex to just think you need more serotonin. Try understand your problem more, and i think if you can fix the primary problem, the rest will sort itself given enough time

I think it could come from my fructose - malabsorption.. Which causes low tryptophan , which leads to low seretonin.. That could be the case also ?

possibly, but you should try and 'experiment' with yourself, but obviously  be safe.
