Autoimmune graves disease ulcers in particular. Fish Oil and Vitamin D both suppress prosglandins and one of the functions of prosglandins is to secrete gastric mucosa which is the stomachs protective lining. One study says that fish oil suppresses pge2 signifcantly but while also increase PGE3 production. On wikipedia it says that PGE3 actually is responsible for gastric mucus secretion while PGE2 helps muscle relatxation or something like that. Anyone have more information on PGE2 and PGE3? I heard prosglandins are also anti-depressants so how could you avoid supressing those while taking fish oil or Vitamin D? Anyways PGE2 in one study said to help heal and prevent ulcers. NSAIDS commonly cause ulcer because it inhibits the body production of prosglandins and of course prosglandins also protect the stomach's lining. Vitamin D helps with intestinal permeability but from what I've heard inhibits benefitical prosglandins that are anti depressant and helps protect the stomach lining. Can someone help me understand this? What's the verdict?
