Hi all,

I will keep it short.

- Male 35 here

- recently did two IGF-1 tests due to some of my symptoms (listed below) results came back about 30% above the norm for my age 360 ng/ml (norm 82-244).

- I did the head MRI for pituitary tumor came back negative

- I did the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test with Growth Hormone came back ok so this excludes a tumor that produces GH?

- all my other hormones (testosterone, cortisol, estrogen, prolactin etc.) and tests are in range (this includes thyroid etc.)

Symptoms:

- sudden fatigue and crashing, acne (for 10 years already and I am not a teenager anymore), oily face, joint pain

So what else can cause this? I don't eat any special diet and my doctor is out of ideas. Thanks

Genetics? Are you wide-boned, heavy? Post your weight stats.

Variations in igf-1 just like variations in every hormone, is normal. For certain populations it's elevated. I assume it's necessary but not sufficient for tall guys and big guys to grow big.

Shouldn't elevated igf-1 develop your bones? The reason fat women look like hulks with large chins and jaws and foreheads is because the extra fat increases igf-1 which matures and develops bones.

Do you have any facial features seen in acromegaly or heavy guys and girls like I mentioned?

Look at governor Chris Christie for an idea of what higher igf-1 would do to you.

I have some features of acromegaly - oily skin, heat intolerance, widening of space between teeth etc. but nothing really major.

What's/who's governor Chris Christie ?
