My mom had/has Guillain-Barre syndrome (http://www.ninds.nih...ers/gbs/gbs.htm) when she was 16 (is now 60). It is a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system. She was totally paralyzed for a short time in a hospital and it has effected her health her entire life from that point on. She has re-occuring problems, bouts of severe fatigue, and moderate nervous problems, and has problems coping with stress. 10-20% of people retain this problem permanently. She does not have any problems walking, thankfully. But the bouts of fatigue are strong, often, and effecting her physically and mentally.
Anyways, I'm viewing this in layperson's term mainly as a neurological functioning problem, and that strengthening it should be top priority. I've some ideas, as she doesn't really take any vitamins at all currently -
Quality multi-vitamin
Omega 3-6-9
B-Complex
L-Tyrosine
Some anti-oxidants
Iodine (?) I read also that it effects that lymphatic system
Any ideas would be great, what am I leaving out? Also, she has a pretty good diet, no take-out, no fried food, no red meat. Help in restoring/maintaining a damaged nervous system would be awesome.
