I've been taking 6 magnesium pills with malic acid recently, which is a serving size at 100% of the quantity you're supposed to get.  I take them throughout the day.  After day two, I started having headaches.  Now when I take one, I get a headache.

I figure it's not the magnesium.

What if you take just the malic acid?

I wasn't suggesting they are different pills.

I suppose if your goal is to get an answer about malic acid causing headaches you have to take malic acid.

I take Malic Acid 800mg twice a day, one at breakfast and one at dinner.  Unfortunately, with recent labs, it's not really doing much for my ammonia, so I just today ordered some OKG to give that a shot.  TL;DR, I haven't gotten anything from Malic Acid, even headaches.  Everyone is different, though, and you can be sensitive/allergic to it.

I just looked at that label.  2.5g seems a lot in one dose, and process of elimination seems pretty simple in this case.

It's happening now, too apparently. I was increasing my dosage each day up to the full amount and I took five pills Sunday, 6 is entire dose, and today I have a headache. I wonder if the fillers are doing this.

I found this on a different forum

is there malic acid in it as well?

malic acid chelates heavy metals , especially aluminum and could explain headaches , that is assuming malic acid is in the magnesium tablet you take as often the 2 are combined.
