I have a critical situation involving Citicoline that I need help with.  There are so many experts on this forum that you guys seem like my only hope!  I will try to make a very long story short.  When I was a teenager, I was diagnosed with an imbalance of the parasympathetic & sympathetic nervous systems called "Dysautonomia."  Once tipped one way or the other, my nervous system does not rebalance by itself.  From birth, I used to be super-ultra sensitive to medications.  In 2005, I discovered that Ashwagandha would temporarily cure the sensitivity to meds & herbs (for 24 hours when taken daily), and Chamomile would do the opposite and would temporarily increase those sensitivities.  Once Ashwagandha was out of my system, all the sensitivities returned and life went on as normal.

In Fall of 2009, I took CDP Choline (Citicoline) for only a few weeks, and it down-regulated SOMETHING that has caused long-lasting changes ever since.  First, the sensitivities to meds & herbs were gone ever since (even after 8 years later) and some supplements and herbs have the opposite effects than they are supposed to.  Second, my face has been bloodshot red ever since, and my eyes are bloodshot as well.  Third, there is a massive amount of fatigue and pain, and it's gotten so bad that I've missed months of work.  There are several other effects such as visual changes in my right retina that are related as well.  It almost feels like too much choline or acetylcholine is in my system 24/7.

My question is this...  Assuming the batch wasn't toxic (which I'm certain it wasn't), and understanding that due to my condition, my nervous system does not regulate itself, what could CDP Choline (Citicoline) have down-regulated (or up-regulated)?

It's nearly impossible to say for sure what happened, and "fancy" speculations at this point can do more harm than good. Did you find any abnormalities in blood work?

No significant abnormalities in blood work.  Metanephrines were abnormally high in 24 hour urine test, however this may or may not be directly related.

What do I need to take to fix this?  Excessive CDP-Choline caused this problem.

Can anyone help?

I took Choline Bitartrate around the same time as CDP-Choline in Fall 2009, so I actually think it was the Choline Bitartrate that may have caused this problem.  What could Choline Bitartrate use have thrown off the balance of????  Like I said, I have a nervous system imbalance, so my body does not "balance itself."  I need something to rebalance things the other way.  Please help.  Anyone.

You need to go see a doctor. This is not something that can be diagnosed online.

BlueCloud, none of them know. None of them know anything about Choline precursors and nootropics. I’m screwed unless I or someone can figure this out.

I would not call people here experts really. Few have actually studied neuroscience besides some basics and pubmed studies - or are in the medical field.

It's strange that Citicoline would have caused something like that since it's considered safe and is widely used without problems. Could it have been something else that caused your issues, and you just happened to be taking Citicoline during the time? Citicoline also increases Uridine levels, but hard to think that would be the cause either.

edit. Red face is a symptom of anticholinergic syndrome...

I have barely been able to walk and breathe since using Choline-related substances (Choline Bitartrate, CDP-Choline, and/or Alpha GPC) intermittently.  I was born with a nervous system disorder or something where my body does not balance this stuff out.  What are some things I might try to reverse this?  Anyone?

Dude, if you’re “ barely able to walk and breathe “ , you need to go to an emergency room or a hospital ASAP. This is unlikely to be caused by just taking choline intermittently.

Bad choice of words on my part, but I meant in terms of energy. I have been to E.R. And I have seen physicians. There is no physical airways obstruction. However, I am depleted of energy ever since Choline usage. And basic things take an act of Congress for me to accomplish.
