Hi all,

I was prescribed Dexamphetamine some time ago, and ever since feel hardly any pleasure at orgasm. I've stopped taking the pills for a couple of weeks at a time, and the problem doesn't reverse. Orgasms have always been very intense during my lifetime, and now they no longer exist.

Does anyone have experience of this? Should it reverse if I abstain from the medication for a long period?

Thanks for any help.

Since you got that from amphetamines, all you need is BPC-157 for a couple days and your pleasure from orgasm will be back to normal. You're welcome.

Maybe.

It depends on OP's family, and personal history with mental health.

Does mental illness run in your family, THP? Do you suffer any anxiety or depression? Sometimes drugs can 'trigger' a mental episode such as depression, this can happen from even from anti biotics.

Fair. He should try it regardless, might do him a lot of good. It's safe, doesn't cost much, and easy to get. So I would at least experience with it if I was him.

Apologies. I completely forgot I had made this post. Bad memory clearly. Thanks for the replies both. Appreciated.

This is a little long, so of course I'm not expecting people to have the time to read it. But just in case.....I'd be hugely grateful.

I do suffer from mental illness. Anxiety all my life, intensifying into derealisation about 10 years ago. My brother also suffers from depression and anxiety. Distressing childhoods and all that.

Being somewhat of an idiot back then, I refused to take medication for years. I fell into the classic 'I can do this myself through exercise, positive thinking, diet etc.' when obviously my condition was far beyond that. I was always neurotic about side effects too; no surprise when my condition is mostly anxiety based.

The breakdown of a difficult relationship pushed me into the realms of anhedonia a couple of years ago. Now I'm left with anxiety, derealisation, depression, anhedonia and deep fatigue.

I've had a disaster of a couple of years because of all this. The illnesses have me isolating, trying to exercise but being too exhausted, drinking etc., and then feeling guilty for it all. I used to be in great shape and loved socialising. That's reversed completely now, although I eat well for the most part so I haven't gone from athletic to Jabba The Hut. Hopefully I can get better and get back into a healthy lifestyle, for my mental health more than anything of course. Anyway, I digress.

Dexamphetamine helps, but not profoundly. It just clears the fog a little. And of course it's ruined my orgasm. I had never had that problem, even at my darkest moments before taking amp. I assume it's down regulation of dopamine receptors.  It also flattens out emotions even further. I'm more robobtic, which feels distinct from anhedonia.

I'm on low doses of lexapro, wellbutrin and lamictal now, and will ramp up as required. I have amp (or should I dump that completely?) and valium on hand for those desperate foggy moments when I can't function at all. This is a new regime and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The only time I've felt normality for a moment was while trying Moclobemide. I had a single day when I suddenly felt 18 again. It was incredible to feel alive, a sensation lost to me for years. The feeling disappeared quickly however, not returning even after a few weeks and anxiety ramped up. Perhaps I should have fought to stay on it longer, with adjuncts, but my doctor was nervous to mix stuff with it.

Does my current mix seem sensible? Jaiho, I know you're a bit of an anhedonia expert. Also, in light of all this should I try that substance for orgasm? Although when I took Wellbutrin on its own a year ago orgasm returned, but of course anxiety was much worse. Maybe it'll do the same but the Lexapro will deal with the anxiety this time.

I didn't mean to write quite such a diatribe. I'm grateful for any suggestions, especially from people like you who've been through this distressing stuff.

dexamphetamine intake can lower natural dopamine levels  dopamine is associated with pleasure. Most likely your neurotransmitter system will bounce back after a while.
