Trying to make sense of something here. I have MAO-A +/+ which is the low-functioning MAO enzyme.

I am wondering whether inhibiting MAO-B would help boost MAO-A? If so, then it could be beneficial to take Deprenyl. Has anyone tried this or is taking a MAO inhibitor despite being MAO-A ++

I am most likely affected by autism and have recently found Raspen-A - this seems like a bogus MAO enhancer to me but I have read MAO enzymes mostly need Mg, B2, Iron to work properly.

Interesting post on reddit

"If you don't mind me asking, there is something else which might be associated with low MAO-A, I believe. Those of us with low MAO-A probably get higher peak dopamine levels. This may lead to desensitization/downregulation of dopamine receptors. This in turn could lead to some anhedonia or apathy."

If you have low MAO-A, the NT turnover is slower so yes we probably get higher peak levels and lots of downregulation and less is available to the brain.

"MAOIs act by inhibiting the activity of monoamine oxidase, thus preventing the breakdown of monoamine neurotransmitters and thereby increasing their availability"

MAO-B inhibition reduces the breakdown mainly of dopamine and phenethylamine https://en.wikipedia...idase_inhibitor

MAO-A inhibition reduces the breakdown of primarily serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine;

After some further research, co-enzyme B2 seems like the most viable approach aside from SIRT1 activation:

B2 seems to be crucial for BH4/BH2 cycles:

This is really the best simplified graphic I ever found which may help explain a lot of things

This seems like a really good resource for MAO-A: https://www.reddit.c..._maoa_activity/

I conclude MAO-A activation via B2, iron, Mg, SIRt1 is much better

Now I only need to figure out whether MTOR inhibition is really that bad and how much Tianeptine does it

I don't want to high-jack the thread, saw this thread and just had a quick question. Is it safe to use a (high dosed sports) multivitamin complex with a MAOI (Parnate)?

Newer MAOIs are generally safe but dont take one with amino acids in them

Avoid anything that can boost serotonin ... e.g. too much Niacin B3, NADH, Rhodiola, 5HTP

That is from what I have read so far, should google MAOI side effects
