I had an idea, and thought I would get it down.
We were chatting about what supplements to help against cancerous tissues, and dukenukem had a decent sized list.
I was thinking of a new way to test the benefits of certain supplements against cancer. Instead of feeding the supplements to cancer patients, and then measuring how long it takes them to die, it seems to me that we should feed the supplements to healthy volunteers and then get them to donate plasma. Then we can nurture cancerous cells in the lab with the serum that comes with supplements. We can compare the growth rate and health of these cells against cells nurtured with fetal bovine serum (or whatever else we use).
I would imagine that an effective supplement (or some of them anyway) will have a negative effect against cancer cells, compared to somatic cells.
