How does Ascorbyl Palmitate figure into all of this? Ascorbyl Palmitate is a fat soluble vitamin C ester (not to be confused with Ester C). What advantages & disadvantages does this fat-soluble version have with respect to other forms? Are there any of the acidity issues with this form?

It is my understanding that the body can only assimilate 500mg of the water-soluble forms at a time. Excess amounts are excreted so one must ingest no more than 500mg every few hours. True of false? How about Ascorbyl Palmitate? Can higher quantities be taken at a time. Are there known toxic levels for the fat-soluble version as there are for many other fat-soluble vitamins?

Search for Ascorbyl Palmitate both here and at Mind & Muscle's forum. You'll see a little discussion of it.

Personally, I have not reached my bowel tolerance yet of Vitamin C. I've gone to 15+ grams daily of ascorbic acid to see what would occur. Nothing much.

I was interested, in part, as to how Ascorbyl Palmitate related to the topic at hand. (I'll try the search you suggested when I get myself to a faster connection; I'm afraid that the one I'm dealing with right now is incredibly SLOOOOOW).

Ascorbyl palmitate is a vitamin C ester. It is not acidic.

pretty good thread, somebody needs to find a VERY good supplier of Vit C and saline and give me the link... anybody tried animals at anarchy yet?

Maybe I will pay the extra $ and buy premade IV forms of it and puncture myself 2x a week for the summer.

The research we've been discussing here supports the use of massive IV doses of Vitamin C for cancer treatment, not for prevention or life extension. Why are you considering it?

Some sources indicate that ascorbyl palmitate breaks down into ascorbic acid and palmitic acid in the human body. As far as I know, its lipid-soluble antioxidant properties are only in vitro.

Brian W, I'm curious as to how much vitamin C you take, if any. Thanks.

Skewed concern but may I ask anyway of vitamin c brands and forms you guys are taking? Should I take both ascorbate and acid form or which mineral ascorbate is better? I want the best (however arbitrary, we will see) I don't know if this Jarrow ascorbic acid I am taking is the one.

hi everyone. im loving this message board. seems like tonnes of switched on folks out there. 35 yr old F with DCIS breast cancer possibly travelled to one armpit lobe. am thinking about iv vit c if i can find a doc to administer. whats your opinion on this one. docs wanted to do full mastectomy but held them off saying i'd do chemo first to try and shrink the massive tumor 5cm plus in size. any advice please. am already on a range of supplements:melatonin; curcumin; vit b; flax seed oil; maitake/reishi extract; zinc;magnesium;beta carotene with mixed carotenoids; vit e with tocopherols; coQ10. as far as vit c goes ive been doing 5000mg calcium ascorbate dose in water three times a day. drinking the dose in one go with water. have not reached runny tummy stage even. thanks. diane in cape town, south africa.
ps: today is the buddhas birthday

With all the literature I have read, I personally would recommend vit C to everyone who has cancer.

You should already be calling around. A doctor who will change your diet would probably be in order also.

Odd question:

Would ingesting L-gulonolactone oxidase (GLO) be sufficient to pass into the blood flow and act has it does for mammals, eg. rats ?

Any LEF members with contacts to which doctors perform IV Vitamin C? Is this also safe to do it yourself?
