https://en.wikipedia.../wiki/Bupropion

Under the wikipedia Pharmacology it says:

Inhibition potency =

DA uptake 100%

NE uptake 27%

Im confused... Isnt it supposed to be the opposite? 100% NE Uptake and 27% DA uptake? I `thought Wellbutrin was a weak Dopamine inhibitor. So why is wikipedia saying the opposite ?

The occupancy of dopamine transporter (DAT) sites by bupropion and its metabolites in the human brain as measured by positron emission tomography was 26% according to GlaxoSmithKline researchers and 14% in an independent study.

To my understanding Bupropion is mainly noradrenaline re-uptake inhibitor / releaser when taken orally. But when insufflated or injected it also works on dopamine and gives addictive rush, but it's also highly damaging this way.

I think when taken orally it is rapidly metabolized and it's actually the metabolites that are causing effects - hydroxybupropion is selective for noradrenaline reuptake inhibition and lacks dopaminergic reuptake inhibition. Whereas when injected or insufflated the actual drug reaches high enough concentrations to affect dopamine. I may be wrong but this would make sense.

It's not really possible to insufflate it. I once bit on a tablet and it tastes very very caustic.

You'd be surprised at what some people will do.  Mostly, this is reported in prisons.
