Neodymium is a toxic metal... I would hope that whatever people are going to be putting in their bodies will be safe and won't cause long term harm or premature aging due to liver toxicity. I see alot of people using the stuff for many different applications without having posted any warnings on the label. This is stuff that touches the skin, sometimes magnetic tongue "piercings."

People will enhance themselves in ways we can't even imagine today. Some of it will be dangerous. Some of it will be fun and interesting. It can't be stopped (effectively). Get used to it.

I don't doubt that it will happen, but the responsibility is on us to learn from the past and make sure that any blackmarket cyberization is safe. We've learned that making things illegal often makes it dangerous. So to improve safety, why not make easy to do simple implants such that any body piercer or tattoo artist could become certified. Otherwise, there will be "cut" and tainted product. Having a story where a toxic metal is implanted into someone without explaining the danger of toxicity may cause teenagers of the future to ignore the risks. I'm just saying be responsible, sort of like: "don't drink and drive... at least not without an unaffected cybernetic autopilot app."
