Sirtris Pharmaceuticals' SRT501 Slows Retinal Ganglion Cell Loss During Optic Neuritis in a Preclinical Model of Multiple Sclerosis
Tuesday March 4, 8:00 am ET

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sirtris Pharmaceuticals, Inc. thanks for the post.

to be honest with you, I'm sick and tired of all the bickering over "resveratrol" and its intended effects, placebo effects, anecdotal effects bla bla bla .

let's get a goddamn formulation that activates SIRT1 and take it. (prefferably the NCE Sirtris has) ;) On a side note, I'll be touring the labs at Sirtris shortly and talking with Chris, which is an honor for me. anyone here have any questions they would like me to ask him? let me know via PM or this thread and I'll do my best to accomodate the intelligent ones.

Ya why did they waste the time and money on developing resveratrol when they should have been focusing on a molecule that is proprietary. Company should have spent time and money getting thier other drugs on the market. however, it is good for us users of resveratrol because it shows us what it can do in FDA clinical setting :p

IMO stupid of them but good for us :)

Do they plan to license SRT501 to a major supplement company so that Sirtris can start being profitable?

Seems like a lot of work for a supplement... Plus each one of their formulations has a plus and minus.... Long lasting or quick plasma spike. Only a few ways around this and I haven't seen any of thier published patents that try to formulate in such a manner. The SRT501 is taken in water? or how is it administered? Pill/tablet? Oral Powder?

Have a good one Anthony. I still haven't seen the sample I assumed you shipped this week or did it go out last week?

Hedge,

I think it's a liquid taken orally, It would be an awesome addition to a protein drink in my opinion.

P.S. I have been a bit busy, I will ship the sample tomorrow.

If I had 1/2 minute I'll ask the following question:
In deacetylation processes, which were singled out as being very
important, Sirt1 and NAD+ are cofactors, with RSV (or
similar molecules) regulating the speed of the processes. Why put all
the emphasis on RSV like molecules when the amount of NAD+ might be
the limiting factor? Wouldn't things like nicotinamide riboside, which
can increase NAD+, be potentially more effective?

Anthony and Inawe, those are some good questions, I'll make sure to ask them when I go :)

Thanks for this opportunity to ask a question to Sirtris. Could you please ask Chris what happened to the mice on the normal diet that was published in the November 2006 Nature article. Was there any increase in healthspan or lifespan for the mice on 5mg/kg and 22mg/kg on the normal diet?

Also: what is the peak plasma RSV (in uM) attained and how long after administration?
Thanks

Please ask him if Sirtris has done any studies to determine whether resveratrol extends lifespan in normal, healthy mice/rats, and if so what were the results.

You'd think this would be obvious, but so far I have seen no studies that show resveratrol extends lifespan in non-obese mammals.

Of course, given the current prevalence of obesity in the US and now that it is spreading (get it?) to other industrialized nations, maybe Sirtris is onto a good thing.

Those of us non-obese individuals are just too healthy and need to increase our junk food intake.

You might also ask why Sirtris insiders are selling shares as the stock is down 10% today.

Sales were automatic so it should not be of concern. I agree that they should have focused more on the NCE. But there is a lot of smart money behind this company so maybe they know what they are doing.

For full disclosure, I am a professional money manager and I do not hold a position in SIRT. Despite the great promise in the product, SIRT is still a very speculative stock and this is not what I do. Maybe good for the growth guys but I am value.

Agree- any money allocated to SIRT should be "gambling" money only. It's not an investment.
