Agressive rheumatoid arthritis + cachexia

I have severe rheumatoid arthritis at a fairly young age. The prospectives are not good currently. My rheumatologist doesn't seem to be able to get it under control. Meanwhile I'm experiencing very evident muscle wasting in hands, feet, arms, legs, shoulders, neck, aka 'rheumatoid cachexia', next to swelling in lots of joints. I'm afraid my organs will be next in line to suffer the consequences. I already seem to have slight problems in my hearing as of the past few months.

 

I've tried to target the nrf2 pathway using sulforaphane in high amounts, but albeit pain seems better: results have been 'so so' thus far. Swelling in joints is still very much present, as is the muscle wasting. I have also added high doses of green tea with the same purpose. 

 

I eat a vegan diet, no processed foods, all organic with lots of (green) veggies, some berries. There are not a lot of frills in my supplement list: I do take collagen type 2 UCII and Biocell type 2 collagen, as well as silica, boron, MK-7, strontium for the sake of my joints. As well as some probiotics given the established link with the microbiome.

 

I have tried curcumin to tone down inflammation, as well as CBD-oil. Not much effect from that either, and for several reasons I had to stop taking the curcumin.

 

It would absolutely be helpful to get some more suggestions of what I could do/try.

I can certainly do that and will give it a try for the next few months; thanks.

I have to say though there have been weeks wherein I didn't eat nightshades in the first place (as I usually don't eat them too often), and I did not seem to get any relief from disease symptoms. But I'm going to keep a closer eye on it for a few months really ensuring not to eat any nightshades at all.

Rheumatoid arthritis is tough. I'll be interested to read others' suggestions.  

I was also going to mention avoiding nightshades

Being autoimmune disorder, I would also target gut health, and anti-leaky gut advice. Things like glutamine, L-Reuteri, and other things that promote intestinal integrity, villi length, barrier function, and avoid foods that may increase intestinal permeability.

Okay, this is going to sound bizarre, but I hear that 100% pure gum spirits of turpentine mixed with sugar, cures rheumatoid arthritis along with a myriad of other issues. Hippocrates recommended turpinic oil for lung conditions, and it's even in the 1899 Merck manual for most of the conditions listed.

My friends and I continue to use turpentine on a fairly regular basis as per Jennifer Daniels' or Earth Clinic's protocols, combined with eating more connective tissue for joint issues (e.g. chicken feet, beef gelatin).
