Nano-simulations better than reality?

Here is the link to the story about a materials scientist from Sandia National Laboratories who argues that nanoscale computer simulations can actually provide more detailed info than "real" experiments.

Good article.

“We need to sit back and put our mindset in a different mode,” he told his audience. “We’re all too busy doing [laboratory] research [instead of considering] how we can leverage resources to push our science to the next level.”


Both need to continue but pushing hard on the automation and simulation at the molecular level will yield huge gains in advancing our knowledge and ability to reverse engineer life one atom at a time. Our eyes can't see atomic level detail and our brains can't comprehend nanosecond speeds. Only a computer simulation running in slow motion will bring us into that world.
