Ortho Core, a few questions?
boily 18 Aug 2006
I have a couple of questions on dosage. I've been taking 2 doses of 4 capsules morning and night with food. Is that OK?
Today is day 3 on "the core". The last 2 nights I've had very vivid dreams and can actually remember them in the morning. Anyone else had this experience? Could taking 4 capsules at night a few hours before sleep have something to do with it? Possibly 6 a day would be enough for me as I eat a very good varied diet?
This is not a bad thing, just unusual. Nothing different noticed during the day time, though i do seem a bit more alert. Could be placebo....
Other supplements I'm taking are: Fish oil 1.8g EPA, 1.2g DHA - Zinc 25mg - Calcium complex 1100mg - 120mg gingko 24/6 - 10mg vinpocentine - probiotic.
Thanks for any comments.

My understanding is that little or no dream recall is a sign of a vitamin b6 deficiency. You may be low in vitamin b6 and that is why that multi is helping you with the dream recall.
If you take very high doses of b6 at night it can make you feel energized and you won't sleep. But a low dose at bedtime is actually a good idea according to some. I think Schiff had (may still have) a melatonin product which also contained b6. A high dose would be something like 200 mg. or more, I think. But taking something like 50 mg. of b6 at bedtime should not interfere with sleep.
I have a condition treated only by orthomolecular called pyroluria which causes me to lose vitamin b6 and zinc in my urine. The only other reason I have heard of for having a vitamin b6 deficiency is when there is partial removal of your colon (preventing absorption).
I don't have much to say about using multi vitamins. Mine is basic because I have to take a number of nutrients separately in high doses.

Also, I have to agree with your assessment Relentless Improvement. I got my order in two business days!! Whoa.

What I can comment on is Relentless Improvement. I have so far only had excellent experiences and they shure go the extra mile to serve you better. The least you can say is there ain't no better place for AOR products and there hardly is a better base product then ortho-core in my view.
Oh, i take the full 9 caps per day. 3 per meal so i feel i better absorb it and keep levels "steady".

if your not used to getting more than a mg or two of certain B vitamins, supplementing them usually drastically increases serotonin & melatonin production at night.. which would lead to more vivid dreams..
Anja: can you please find some references to support the above statements?

I wouldn't say I had poor dream recall prior to taking ortho core. Actually I kind of like remembering dreams. Sometimes its frustrating to forget yours dreams only minutes after waking. Perhaps this could be a method to increase creativity, or idea generation......

It's a large .pdf!

I included the first page as a screenshot. I hope AOR does not sue me!
