aniracetam dosing schedule

randomthoughts's Photo randomthoughts 23 Dec 2007

wanted to share my first experience with a nootropics (sans modafinil) and maybe get some feedback.

so i finally got some of these 750mg capsules of aniracetam in the mail... popped one in the afternoon and felt absolutely nothing... ate two eggs after taking it too.

Tomorrow I'm gonna try taking one capsule every 2 hours until I feel something... knowing that the effect of this drug isn't very long lasting apparently.

Curious to know if anyone else here has had to try super high dosages, and wether ur able to keep steady at that level and get consistent benefits?

You need to take it with a full meal.

Not particularly. At standard doses, some people see obvious benefits, some see benefits over time but nothing acutely, some people never see any benefit, and some people report negative effects. Some people enjoy lower doses, some like higher, etc. It's a very individual situation.

well today i finally started feeling effects from the aniracetam...

took 4 750 capsules in the morning and felt nothing...

then at lunch, took 2 750 capsules EMPTYING them out into some milk... felt a sense of clarity and wellbeing for about an hour before it left.

tried another two capsules dissolved with milk 2 hours later, felt nothing.

last dose was at about 5:30 with some potatoes, this worked fairly well and im still feeling the affects now... its not quite as good as how i felt at noon tho, but has lasted longer.

seems like dissolving the powder in some fatty milk, or at least sprinkling it out on food is doing the trick for me so tomorrow will be a big test to see if i can get some consistent results.

The reason why the milk helped is because aniracetam is fat-soluble. You need to take aniracetam with a meal.

What I do with Aniracetam is "sandwich" it between two large lecithin gelcaps (with a meal); i.e. take one gelcap, then the aniracetam, then another gelcap, so that the fat is present with the aniracetam in the gastrointestinal tract (the same would work, I imagine, with other types of fats like fish or primrose oil). Large doses (more than 700 mg) has a "dubious effect" (as once described on this forum) in that it creates a mental "fogginess" contraindicative to the intended use and effect of classic nootropic substances.

Question for the original poster (randomthoughts): from what company did you receive the aniracetam, as it seems the doses you've used would have had some effect, individual biochemical differences notwithstanding.

the company i ordered from is nubrain, the company that manufactures the pills is cognitive nutrition.

i think im gonna switch to one of the water soluble racetams... the fact that aniracetam has such a short duration of action (2 hour supposevly), makes the need for food a bit of an inconvenience... seems so much easier to mix some piracetam with water and be done with it.

Cognitive Nutrition is a shell company for Unique Nutrition - an incredibly shady company. I wouldn't be surprised if the product was bunk. If you try aniracetam or other nootropics again, I'd go for either Relentless Improvement or Bulk Nutrition. Suppliers aside, piracetam is probably a better choice if you're looking for something with a longer half-life, though it lacks some of the unique specific effects of aniracetam (i.e. the allosteric modulation of AMPA receptor function).
