I keep trying to boil the concept down to a simple chart that a layperson can understand. Here's my latest attempt.
* Therapeutic Interventions will take off once the Knowledge and Predictive Capabilities accelerate.
* Knowledge and Predictive Capabilities will accelerate once the tools and technology emerge that allow us to work at biological scales.
Alternately Stated: If technological progress takes off on an accelerating curve, knowledge and predictive capabilities will start to accelerate within a few decades which in turn trigger an exponential acceleration in therapeutic interventions that extend life.
The timescales are arbitrary and shown only as an example. There could be 100 years between takeoffs.
