DHEA-Beneficial Effects-Suffer From Depres...

Pittguy578's Photo Pittguy578 27 Nov 2008

Here is the situation-I have a long term battle with depression-last year it got really bad..I finally was put on Wellburtin-450 MG a day. I noticed within the last couple of months I had memory issues so I stopped taking it. They were not major-just enough to bother me..I wouldn't be able to think of certain non-important things such as names of actors, etc.. I wasn't overly concerned about possible negative effects of stopping WB because my depression seemed to come in cycles..I would be ok for a while and then become depressed..maybe I am borderline bipolar, but WB didn't put me into hypomania..maybe I had more of a dysthimia.

Regardless, due to memory issues, I stopped taking WB temporarily to see how that would work..In the meantime I also started supplementing with DHEA. I have not been depressed and even noticed I have felt better than I have ever felt on WB-I feel sharper and my active vocabulary has increased again..never had trouble with verbal (had 760 Verbal SAT), but I felt as if I was using simpler words and having trouble vocalizing. I also noticed my anxiety which I definitely have suffered from all of my life has decreased..I feel more confident. I don't think its all in my head.

Anyone else experience success with DHEA? Just wondering..

I've had very benefitial effects from DHEA but it was transdermal 7-oxo-dhea with pregnenolone

Seven Made with real orange oil and neuro-steroids this lotion, when applied to the inside of your arms, gives you a wonderfully relaxing, feeling of calm. The P Seven Orange should be used when you want longer acting action of the mood enhancer for a feeling of confidence and calm. It is also preferred for sleeping better as it lasts through the night.
Note: BROMOCRIPTINE INHIBITS THE EFFECTS OF P SEVEN.

What is P-SEVEN?
P-SEVEN is a topical mood enhancer. It also has immune and a metabolic acceleration effects.

How does P-SEVEN work?
It is rubbed into the skin. The advanced solution puts the 7-oxo-DHEA and Pregnenolone into the very skin itself.

What exactly are the active ingredients 7-oxo-dhea and Pregnenolone?
They are both neurosteroids which are naturally occurring chemicals in your body that are not hormonal. Pregnenolone, once inside your body, becomes one of many of the neurochemicals that are critical to mood balance and libido. 7-oxo-dhea is a form of DHEA that is not hormonal and does not convert to other hormones.

What are the benefits of using P-SEVEN?
Most users notice a fairly rapid onset of calm and a sense of tranquility and well being. These are the more noticeable and immediate results. Its other positive effects on immune system and metabolic acceleration become apparent over time. Some users, dependant on a number of factors to great to delve into here, will notice significant improvement to libido.

What if I just take these supplements separately?
It is AvoPharm's own blend of these ingredients that are used in P-SEVEN to provide the desired effects, alone neither is nearly as effective. These compounds also have low oral bioavailability, which means that they are not very effective when taken orally. Pregnenolone in particular is rapidly broken down. The topical application of these insures greater availability and a longer more even release of these beneficial compounds into the skin.
Contents: Alcohol, glycerin, propylene glycol, oleic acid, Orange Oil, 7-oxo DHEA and pregnenolone 2oz

I guess not. I have had a positive effect from 25mg, 3x/day for two weeks, followed by two weeks off. Repeat as necessary.

I am bipolar and I was on Wellbutrin succesfully for 8 months without mood stabilizers and it did not put me into hypomania. Only did SSRI's do that. But my suggestion for you on the bipolar part is to start Taurine supplementation. 1.5 grams a night will help. Do some research into it. I started taking taurine and my mood stablizers were dropped in dose by 66%.

I take a really low dose (15mg) that got me from very low levels to just inside the bottom of "normal" When I started on it I was very pleased to start dreaming (or at least remembering some of them) and waking feeling rested. I'm not doing so hot now, but I asked my doctor if it ok to use a little bit more DHEA and see if it helps. I'll try to report back if that does anything.
