Some of the more politically strident members of the forums have criticized the administration's handling of the conflict, one using the colorful term 'clusterfucks' to describe the prosecution of the war.

Let's compare Nato's invasion with the Soviet invasion of 1979.

In the last eight years, 963 coalition forces have been killed in Afghanistan.

In nine years, the Soviet Union lost 14,453 troops.

What other criteria should one use? Certainly the difference in troop deaths is a very strong indicator.
