Commercials for penis drugs

You know, if someone had published a science fiction story a few decades back about life in the early 21st Century where, as part of the background, he postulated commercials on television for drugs to treat erectile dysfunction, readers back then would probably have snickered and reacted incredulously. (That's why they call it "science fiction," after all.) The penis and its sexual use, at least, were quite taboo.

Well, once again we are seeing a cultural development that would have sounded science fictional not that long ago:

I guess it is a reflection of what society values most at this point in history. I know a lot of people who would think this is a sad state of affairs for human society. The upshot is that sexual function is a sign of youth and fertility. People want to be young. Hopefully this bodes well for the future of immortalism.

I am amazed at how many spam ads I get for Viagra and Viagra-like products. What is even more amazing is that these products get such attention and popularity although they really are not all they are cracked up to be.

Before I tried Viagra, I expected to be turned into a pulsing sex-mad desirous fiend. It doesn't even increase your sexual desire. It just gives you a little boost in functionality.

Yet, this drug is hyped as a passport to renewed desire. Talk about a mountian that is made out of a molehill.
