Beta-Blockers for Performance Anxiety?
digdug 05 Jul 2004
1. Can Metoprolol be used instead? If so, what is the appropriate dosage to use? I ask because Metoprolol and Propanolol are dosed differently for their "on-label" uses.
2. Will beta-blockers be so anxiolytic that the normal, productive adrenaline response in exam situations will be completely shutdown or interefere with my cognitive ability, to my detriment?
3. If #2 is an inevitability, is there a more appropriate medication to deal with my problem? I've considered benzodiazapenes, but I fear they will make my "out of it".
I'm glad to see that Oxiracaetam exerts a tranquilizing effect on me - apparantly this is often seen in those who have pre-existing anxiety, upon the start of -racetam treatment.

L-Theanine

Links are to the Bulk Nutrition site because he has more detailed info. Smi2le.biz has the best prices on these products, however.
... that refrigerator is clean enough LOL. Get back to the books.
Best of luck.

BTW benzodiazapenes will definitely slow you mentally. Do not use them during exams.

Yes, I just tried phenibut myself, and I must admit it definately has an anti anxiety effect; and I found a 500 mg dose to be quite effective. L theanine, I am not sure how much I notice this one...

Already ordered phenibut from Sm2le, and it should be on its way. How is the effect on mental acuity?
It definately does NOT make you sharper. I only use it to help me get to sleep when I have insomnia, or when I want to get 8 hours of sleep. Usually I cannot get more than 6 hours of sleep, so every once in a while it is nice to get the full 8. Oh, and what else did you order from smi2le? Did you get some aniracetam, picamillon, RALA, and ALCAR? I think those are some of the most effective nootropics as far as your memory and vigilence is concerned.
Take care,
Adam

See, I've been taking Oxiracetam and already notice the the sedative effect is making it a bit more difficult to study. I'm having to drink coffee to get that perfect calm/focused sweetspot. My fear is that once I add Aniracaetam and Picamillon, I'll become narcoleptic!

I have Picamillon and Aniracatem on the way. I alreay have RALA and ALCAR from Beyond-a-Century. What are the optimal dosages for these? I'm going to do 500mg a day of ALCAR and am clueless about the R-ALA dosage. Both powder burn the fvck out of my throat, though.

You need to go buy a scale and empty capsules. The effective nootropic dose of ALCAR is over 2 grams a day and over 600 milligrams a day for RALA.
