Hi Ozzies,

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with getting melatonin prescribed? And if so how did you go about it? I remember reading a while ago (forget where) that most docs will push a whole host of other drugs on you before melatonin if you go in with sleep issues, thus my query.

While im here, I am interested in some nootropic or study/focus/attention enhancement drugs like Ritalin, Modafinil, Adderal, etc. I admit not to having done much research yet, but what ones are available here in Oz are the ones most likely to be prescribed by aussie doctors?

Had no problem getting a prescription for melatonin in brissie, simply explained to Dr. that I had I had trouble sleeping and wanted to try something more natural before I tried drugs and that I wanted melatonin and I left with a 10mg/ml sublingual melatonin prescription. I suppose it depends on the doctor, some are open minded, some are too busy to bother trying to sell you the drug option, surely theres an alternative type doctor around that you could track down too.

Re: your nootropic inquiry. I have used Modafinil before, prescribed to help with sleep apnoea. Personaly found that it helped me focus on work, but it was short lived as I built up a quick tolerance to it over approx. a week. Very expensive too at around $170 for a monthly supply.
