in short, some strains of probiotic bacteria seem to alleviate depression and similar conditions. I did an experiment, although I wasn't depressed: I tried taking Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (1:1 ratio) and after a week or so I felt much better although with some brain fog. After one month I didn't felt so euphoric anymore but I also didn't have the side effects (brain fog). Now I only take my probiotics every two or three days just to finish the stack but I'm gonna experiment with other strains.
Worth mentioning: I was on antibiotics for 5 days three months before this. Anybody have similar experience?

And i have finally found some really good ones, but expensive, 30billions per caps, have like 8 strains of the medicinal ones,
which don't give me side-effects, they are also enteric coated, and i take them on a raw vegan diet so i don't get any bloating or gas, constipation, etc .
I really hope and know that i will only feel better by the time i'm done my bottle, there is only a month supply,
and i believe that my body should be able to sustain it's own positive flora bacteria population as desired after that without a problem !
*( I'm currently looking for some pure Gluten, and got pure FOS powder on hand to help with that ... )
Our body is the most amazing and wonderful organism, it is really really good at balancing out everything and coming to complete harmony with Nature, if only you don't put too much crap in it, most supplements included ...
All i take now on my new regime is 1 gelcap of 5:1 DHA/EPA ( because it's really hard for our body to convert to DHA from ALA from Flax Oil),
2tbspn of prime Flax Oil,
Natural Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols),
special Vitamin C powder with bio-flavanoids,
and sometimes sooometimes a teaspoon of virgin coconut oil to increase my good HDL,
and that's all you need if you also eat some greens and brown rice, and that crazy good new Cereal by Bob's Mill called Mighty Tasty Cereal, has like 5 grains in it and it's all Gluten-Free ! ( read my post on WGA and Gluten btw, still gotta boil it for 10mins )
btw, Brussel Sprouts space me the heck out(possibly partly because of Choline in it ) and give me gas,
Brocolli is a bit better or it might be Raw Celery because ( Celery, celery root, parsley, & parsnips contain toxins called psoralens, aka furocoumarin. Psoralens can cause phytophotodermatitis. That means sensitivity to sunlight, caused by contact with a plant. Handling these plants & sunbathing can lead to bad sunburn, rashes, blisters, and skin discoloration. Photosensitivity from eating these vegetables can happen, but it's very unusual. _)
then just add some chopped green onions in it, and Enjoy !
For Your HEALTH ! (;

These contain Chr. Hansen strains.I've used some local brand Linex http://www.lek.si/en...s-releases/571/
I believe these contain Danisco FloraFIT strains as some old info on this product says it contains strains from Rhodia, from which a part was acquired by Danisco 7 years ago.but I'm going to experiment with NOW Gr8-Dophilus.

I think if something ain't broke don't fix it. So I've given them up and since returning to what I normally eat (with zero probiotics) I am doing well again.
I introduced them initially because I was swayed by the health hype.

@Niner:
Indeed, I can't knock probiotics I'm just a bit dissapointed with my own results thus far. I don't know the particular bacteria but I suppose I could research this some more. I am aware of some supplements that have recieved good kudos from people on here recently.

Absolutely. You can't assume if one strain from one species does have a certain effect, another strain from the same species can do the same.and what does this mean? is there much difference in different strains?

Not much really I have just experimented with stuff I bought at the supermarket. Yakult wasn't too bad but the pribiotic yoghurts upset my insides quite a bit. This is just my own experience though.
I asked what's your experience with ANTIbiotics?
