About Us
The SENS Foundation Academic Initiative is part of SENS Foundation, a 501©(3) nonprofit. We are located in Mountain View, California.
Mission
Our mission has three parts.
Research: To develop students into the next generation of researchers working on rejuvenation biotechnologies by providing them with funding, guidance, and mentoring.
Outreach: To empower students to be advocates of SENS Foundation and the Academic Initiative by providing them with outreach materials and training.
Education: To educate students and interested laypeople about the feasibility of the defeat of aging by providing instruction about aging as the reversible accumulation of damage at the cellular and molecular level.
Vision
Our vision is to create a movement of young researchers and advocates focused on advancing the mission of SENS Foundation.
History
The SENS Foundation Academic Initiative was founded in 2008 as the Methuselah Foundation Undergraduate Research Initiative (MFURI). The Initiative took on its current name in 2009, when SENS Foundation itself was established. Since its creation, the Academic Initiative has guided students and provided them with funding for numerous research projects, resulting in several publications.
