Some scientists have discovered a set of "anti-aging" genes in animals that -- when manipulated -- have similar life-extending effects as calorie-restrictive diets. Correspondent Tom Bearden reports on the research into the relationship between genes and aging.

A very interesting find Kevin.

The subject (SIR2 gene & CR) is old news here but the mainstream media interest is encouraging.

I found the evolutionary genetics arguments made by them for what CR is doing and why it works remarkably consistent with the ones proposed here in our discussions. [wis]

I have my doubts that CR mimetics are going to do significantly better than CR itself ... I think that the most valuable output from all of this (aside from lots of very healthy people in the best case) is the knowledge gained re: cellular biochemistry, metabolism, aging.
