Honestly that's a pretty vague question. Conventional wisdom says that there's some kind of Darwinian process where a chemo agent becomes less and less effective on repeated use.
However, in his book, Dr. Robert Nagourney says that if you are using the right drug then it can be used successfully repeatedly. I would assume a lot of this hinges on whether you are using the "right" drug(s) in the first place.
I could even cite studies where continuous use of an anticancer agent caused tumors to "shut down" in survival mode, whereas if it was broken up by washout periods, it gradually wore the tumors down to nothing.
