Nootropics cost/question.
rhakshasa 23 Oct 2005
I don't feel I'm someone motivated enough so I'm looking for solution. I'm considering starting taking nootropics, but I'm wondering. How much will these cost me in the early years and will I became tolerant to the stuff. Now your telling me, well, it depend on the nootropic you take, well I'll tell you I don't really know hich one I will take. [:o] I know it vary a lot from people to people, but let's say I'd want to be in an "optimal state" which mean I'd want a little bit of everything more : concentration, memory, motivation, good mood, cognitive fonction. I've been told piracetem is very commonly used but some people seems to say it has only very little effect. So I'm really unsure about which one to try, but I'd defenitively enjoy something that has a good effect and isn't too pricey, at least for now!

There are rarely definitive answers in life. Everyone will react differently to different nootropics. Some people love piracetam, for others it's like taking a sugar pill. You should try different things and different combos to see what works best for you.
I really like piracetam. It makes me think clearly, which tends to put me in a better mood and make it easier for me to focus. An active mind tends to promote a better memory. From www.uniquenutrition.net 120 caps of 800mg of piracetam and 60 caps of 300mg of alpha GPC (about a month's supply if you take it every day) will cost you around $45. Many nootropics are in that approximate price range. Piracetam's a good one to start with. If you don't like it or if it's not strong enough for you, try something new. There's a ton of research on this forum, you can browse and find a drug/supplement that will fit your desire.

I have taken quite a good look at this forum and sure have found tons of information, also tons of different opinion! $45 a month is quite a lot of money for a student, and that just for one nootropics, I plan to take more than one if they fit well! :( It suck having no money... or only money for internet.
I've also been told about 5-Hydroxytryptophan, is it good, is it pricey, does it help a lot on fighting depression and creativity (2 things I find very important which usually goes in the opposite side :( )

The way to buy noops is not the overpriced ripoff caps and tabs. Get your own capping machine and cap your own. That $45 figure goes down to about $6 to $8. Pay $8 for the capper, $8 for 1000 caps and you're in business. Then you buy bulk powder and cap it up. Piracetam is a very good one to start on. You dont need a-gpc with it. Lecethin or nothing at all works fine. Dont neglect your vitamins.

I bought my cappers from bulk nutrition. They have the machines and caps. Does anyone know of a better source? They are pretty good and I've checked around. You might want to invest in a tamper. The all in one kits have one included. 0/1 and 00/000 are the same so don't get one of each. You only need a max of 2 size tampers.

I searched for a bunch of other capsule machines because BN had a review saying it wasn't worth the money for the cap-m-ez or whatever it is called.
I use something called "The Capsule Machine" with a tamper included
http://www.wildroots...ine-p-3135.html
They only fit 1 size each.

Thanks for tracking down a new capsule machine. I know this will sound stupid, but I'd like to get some of those colored caps. All I see at WildRoots is vegetable caps.
Does anyone know where to get colored caps online?
(Ok, it's not that stupid, actually I want to be able to tell the different things apart by the colors. Sometimes I get my whitish-capsules together and can't tell which is which.)

I just ziploc everything in separate bags and label them with a sharpie afterwards. My bag of tyrosine capsules has TYR on them, piracetam has PIR, etc. It works pretty well for me.
I actually didn't use the wildroots, I used some website from a lab somewhere on the east coast

I've tried to order from there, but I can't figure out how to do it without a telephone. Is there a trick you know about? Or even a different distributor?

Well, geez, Pure, of course I do that. But once I get my daily supplements picked out, sometimes I get them mixed up. How do you deal with that problem? Oh wait... are you saying that you always carry around a huge buffet of all your supplements? I guess that would work, but geez, that would be a lot of bottles/baggies to carry around...I just ziploc everything in separate bags and label them with a sharpie afterwards. My bag of tyrosine capsules has TYR on them, piracetam has PIR...

never ordered, just remembered the link

I think they have the best choice of caps and cappers, but the worst website I've ever seen. Well, not really the worst one, but it definitely sucks for anything other than showing you what they have...

Didn't try their machines, but cap-em-quick is very good, cheap and easy to operate
purerealm 26 Oct 2005
ah I didn't know what you meant, I don't bring my supplements with me but I'm usually at home so it's not a problem. Maybe you could dilute some food coloring in water and wait for the dye to dry?
gcurrie 26 Oct 2005
Rick: I've ordered from capsuline.com many times. They are quick and efficient.
For example (the line below might wrap):

If you look at this page, it has a Add to Cart button on the right side of the description.
Is this what you meant?

Yeah, or maybe I could just get some colored gelatin caps, and have my own color-code for the ones I cap myself.Maybe you could dilute some food coloring in water and wait for the dye to dry?

Hey, look at that. They have a new website. Thanks, Q!Rick: I've ordered from capsuline.com many times. They are quick and efficient.
