Subcutaneous disodium EDTA?

Logjam's Photo Logjam 19 Apr 2016

There are therapies like disodium EDTA that have questionable efficacy, but using totally GRAS substances (at least if 3-4g administered slowly in the case of EDTA) and known to be safe.  Various studies like TACT have looked into it and concluded that there are marginal benefits to some populations and really no downside.

Disodium EDTA is easily obtainable and it's soluble in pretty much anything.

Unfortunately, IV dosing in mice is a major pain.  Oral absorption is pretty much nil, and mice don't find it palatable.  That leaves subq.

Does anyone know if substances like disodium EDTA would likely be just as effective given subcutaneously?  Doing a very slow subcutaneous drip while resting is easy and cheap.  Much easier than IV.
