Amino acid test answers/ Urea cycle disorder?
Hannaorava 07 Oct 2017
Hello,
does anyone know about aminoacids or urea cycle disorders? I would be very grateful, if someone would look at these results. Could these aminoacid results mean I have some form of urea cycle disorder? I have neurological problems, blurred vision, balance problems etc... Could there be excess ammonia in my blood to cause these problems? Thank you

I am not a doctor, and this is not a diagnosis. These are ideas for you to research and discuss with a doctor.
Alanine is a buffer for nitrogen in muscle and glutamine is a buffer for nitrogen in liver. Both of yours are slightly elevated, not remarkable. Is your Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) high or low? What is the value, and have you measured it over time?
Urea Cycle Disorders are rare, and you probably do not have one or it would have been caught in childhood. But maybe you have something triggering high ammonia, and that could be explored by a doctor.
