Supplement Cycling & Downregulation

Andrew88's Photo Andrew88 20 Jan 2018

Hey guys, just looking for some advice/opinions about cycling supplements that would have downregulation issues if staying on for too long.

Firstly this is my current supplement stack, just wondering if anything I'm taking would have downregulation potential

- Boron 3mg/ 3 times per day

- Ashwagandha 300mg/ 2 times per day

- Panax Ginseng 500mg/ 2 times per day

- vitamin c 1000mg/ 2 times per day

- NAC 1000mg/ 1 time per day

- Berberine 400mg/ 3 times per day

- Zinc 40mg/ 1 time per day

- Vitamin B12 500mcg/ 1 time per day

- Cod liver oil 750mg/ 2 per day

- Vitamin E 500iu/ 1 time per day

- Ginkgo Biloba 120mg/ 1 time per day

- CoQ10 100mg/ 1 time per day

- Vitamin D3 5000iu/ 3 time per week

- Magnesium 200mg/ 4 per day

Secondly just wondering if there is a way/ or anyone already implements a brain enhancement stack that cycle supplements that work off different pathways to avert downregulation

example alpha gpc for 1 month, then uridine for 1 month then tyrosine for 1 month etc

or if there is a more effective way of cycling example every week, fortnight etc

Cheers

I generally cycle all my supplements based on my personal four-stage rules:

1) Taken once a week, usually on Mondays of the week.
- Heavy medications used prophylactically : rapamycin, donepezil, memantine.

2) Taken three times a week, usually Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of the week.
- Medium medications used prophylactically : metformin.
- Nutrients/substances that are naturally available in the body or not essential for basic survival (to avoid natural downregulation feedback) : Nicotinamide Riboside, Cycloastragenol, Pterostilbene, Resveratrol, Curcumin, Benagene, Milk Thistle.

3) Taken five times a week, usually Monday-Friday of the week.
- Essential nutrients (vitamins, minerals, proteins) : Zinc, multivitamin, Magnesium, fish oil, protein powders, etc.

4) Saturday and Sunday are supplement-free.
This is to “reset” downregulations, or to minimize risk such as the possibility that a supplement is doubted in the future.

Thanks for the reply mate, how do you find this approach, does it feel like you still get the full effects of everything?

For step 2 is it as simple as 3 days on 4 days off making you have more time off than on allow receptors to stay fresh?

Benagene

Would you share your rationale for taking Benagene?

Thanks!
