How do you plan on spending your immortality?

Kalepha's Photo Kalepha 09 Aug 2006

I know it's hard to speculate because in the next few decades there will be so many new forms of entertainment, arts, literature... etc, but try to give something that you could enjoy in your current state... :)

Fun topic, Joseph. So many neat things have already been said, so, I guess in terms of current state, among much of the other things, I'll probably want to devote a lot of activity to experimental mathematics in strong VR ("strong" because our observer states are already basically VR, so it's just an intuitive distinction, not a necessary one).

I would discover new alien life forms... and have sex with them :)

They might not have sex as a means to reproduce, and thus might find your intrusion quite worrisome. ;)

I think that's maybe part of that "to boldly go where none have gone before" thingie. [tung]

probably in virtual reality.... maybe cloning and growing millions of me and ruling galaxies with my starships.... Do battle with some aliens... [g:)]

nah, one of the reasons I would like to live a long time or forever is to explore the universe... there must be so much out there! so many different lifeforms, intelligent or not, it would be very interesting!

I'll mostly spend time on earth. I expect that for the following century I'll be rather obsessive regarding health, medicine, rejuvenation techniques, performing scientific research, making it all less expensive, more secure and the like.

But, basically what you mean is, when we reach escape velocity, immortality basically guaranteed, hmm...

Well, one thing I want to do is learn every dance and martial art and get maximall ranked in em all. Also to read every manga, watch every anime... and the DC and Marvel universes are just beckoning to be unearthed.

I suppose I might also have time for love then since STDs and birth control should be relatively simple. Also, big on the video games, virtual reality, roleplaying, and probably have a bunch of pets, collect weapons, stuff like that.

CHILL THE HEAT DEATH. Seriously though, we need Reed Richards. Read Ultimate Fantastic Four, you'll see a rather evil immortal alien dude who gets rather mean. Let's try to avoid the problem so we don't have to become so maniacal.
