Has anyone felt different from taking Rhod...

guyledouche's Photo guyledouche 01 Mar 2006

I really need something that will boost my mood and my energy. I have read some good reviews about Rhodiola. I was wondering if anyone has felt a difference after taking it?

Yeah. I notice a good memory benefit from it. I don't really notice any mood or energy benefits as I don't really need these. If you want those I'd recommend tyrosine or phenylalanine on an empty stomach.

Trimethylglycine is another supplement to try for mood and energy.

Ive taken as much as 2 grams of tyrosine at once on an empty stomach and I didnt feel anything at all. If anything it only made me tired.

i get a noticable boost in mood from rhodiola... especially if im tired or in a bad mood to begin with.

no noticable effects on memory or energy for me.

yerba mate/green tea works great as a energy.mood boost for me

500mg tryptophan mixed with 1 packet emegen-C gives me a nice mood boost sometimes

at 500mg with 5% salicides (or whatever they're called) from the NOW company. Rhodiola seems to act like an atypical antipsychotic at that dose in my body [:o]. I've sampled a .5mg risperidol tab and it feels like a milder version of that. Expect Emotional blunting and a scatterbrain. Maybe its effects are different at lower dosages, like 150-300mg. I wasn't impressed at its effects for my own use. At the same time I was expecting to feel the oppsoite from this herb. That may be worth something.

Same.
Good stuff. I have to try to stack it with Ashwaganda.

I've heard from many people that rhodiola has no effect or an opposite effect when taken over a certain dosage. I think suggestions to experiment with 150-300mg doses rather than starting at 500mg are sound advice.

I stack rhodiola with bacopa and theanine ...really calming combination. 500 mg Rhodiola + 200 mg Theanine + ~250 mg Bacopa.
Usually i take Rhodiola in the morning combined with bac + theanine and take theanine + bac two hours before going to bed ( without Rhodiola )

Foreword: I'm having problems again, the add reply button goes to a timeout error or blank page for timeout maybe. This is the second post i make that i lost today.

Unfortunately (maybe) NOW caps are dosed at 500mg and the first 4-5 days I took 2 caps (on the lable is recommended 1-2 caps ED(, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, now i'm stable at 500mg in the morning. I would of course recommend to start at a low dose with ANY new compound you try. But I didnt :) I knew LEF recommendations but I was stressed (much more then i am now) and I'm not taking any other adaptogen at the time.

What I can tell from anecdotal experience is that dosing 1g the effect lasted til late night, while now with a single 500mg dose in the morning it fades around 8pm, which is fine for me, since I am always in a better mood at evening.

[control+c in case i loose this post too]

I take 250 mg each morning and sometimes another 250 mg in the afternoon. I noticed it takes the edge off in terms of irritability and fatigue. I take it with l-theanine also and the two together produce a nice quieting effect for me.
