That's awesome, I was just about to post about farmer's walks as they're in today's routine for me. Such a great exercise, even if it isn't the sexiest newest kettlebell wood-chop variation.

Kind of hard to do at most gyms, at least during prime time. Not sure what one would use to do this at my gym, other than picking up some very heavy dumb bells. The guy in the pic seem to be carrying an insane amount of weight, I calculate 310 lbs. per side, I doubt there are many people on the planet that could grip and walk with that much weight.

This is an easy and often forgotten exercise that I suspect really activates the neuromuscular system in a favorable way.

Been doing something like this and it feels pretty good. I like staying away from the aging rays of the sun, might do this at night though... But all I'm doing now is standing in front of my computer in different positions (borrowed from that Hindu god with all the arms) with 10 and 25 pound handledumbs (is that what they're called?), also have a that bar with the bends in it. I'm breaking a great sweat and feeling good. I feel like it's safer than repetitive motion too. Weights were about $1/lb with coupons and other savings. Traded the bar for something... Might look into getting some 45s. I like to get 2 hours of workout for maximum calorie burn.
So how many calories does a farmer's walk burn? is there a calculator somewhere?

I have a pair of 40lb dumbbells, would that be enough?
Another cheap thing I tried out for fun: just buy salt pellets. I need them for the water softener anyway. For around 5 bucks you can get 20kg (around 45 pounds) of pellets with a plastic handle for easy carrying. If it pinches a little bit gloves should help.
I get the Windsor-brand ones but Morton also looks like a good deal. The primary difference is that Windsor's handle is extended above the bag while Morton's is built into it.
Also since these handles are so small you can actually carry 2 per hand if you're strong enough. Not something you can do with a DB.
