2014 budget plans
The members survey to identify priorities for 2014 is still open, but now the time has come in the LongeCity calendar to put plans and ideas into into a financial framework. As part of this process, we will review expenses and revenues last year, discuss which core activities we can maintain and what new initiative might be possible and by the end of March we will have agreed a draft budget for the next 12 months.  The current plan veers slightly between an attempt to 'streamline' operations given limited volunteers and an attempt to bring in new blood- which brings us to a trial of major new initiative in 2014:

Are YOU interested in being a Guest Editor at LongeCity?
The budget for guest editors has not yet been ratified, but a draft figure of about $800 per stint may be possible. This scheme is aimed at those who would like to contribute to the LongeCity's mission and have some ideas and projects in mind, but can't envisage spending a lot of time at LongeCity continuously due to other commitments. The 'guest editor' scheme is right for those who have a couple of weeks to spend only.
Questions and expressions of interest

Leadership changes
'Cryonicsculture' (Peter) joined LongeCity as a user in November 2012 and quickly became prominent in the community not least with his cheerful welcome messages to new users in the 'introduce yourself' section. He joined as a Member in January and was recently appointed assistant membership secretary. In this role he will field queries from members and users, keep an eye out for new initiatives and help with making connections.

Monthly forum feature: Advertisers
Under the 2014 Budget, LongeCity will, as always, depend on generous donations for funding our non-profit activities. Part of these revenues will come from enterprises benefiting from the opportunity to advertise on LongeCity. Even with cryonicsculture joining leadership LongeCity is struggling with the administrative burden of dealing with advertising enquiries. To tackle this, we are currently trialing a new automated system for displaying ads across the site. Please bear with us while we testdrive this system and iron out the kinks.
