I want to build green houses like shown in this ABC news video, at http://cosmos.bcst.y...p...13&src=news, real bad. I want to hit the big time like this guy. I'm tired of the deer getting an unreasonable cut of my veggies.

Growing Power transforms communities by supporting people from diverse backgrounds and the environments in which they live through the development of Community Food Systems. These systems provide high-quality, safe, healthy, affordable food for all residents in the community. Growing Power develops Community Food Centers, as a key component of Community Food Systems, through training, active demonstration, outreach, and technical assistance.
Will Allen, our Chief Executive Officer believes, "If people can grow safe, healthy, affordable food, if they have access to land and clean water, this is transformative on every level in a community. I believe we cannot have healthy communities without a healthy food system."
Our goal is a simple one: to grow food, to grow minds, and to grow community. Growing Power began with a farmer, a plot of land, and a core group of dedicated young people. Today, our love of the land and our dedication to sharing knowledge is changing lives.
This makes much sense to me. People wishing to live long lives should become involved in food production like this in my opinion. I'm hoping to start a similar program on the abandoned Air Force Base I live on.

I grow food in "the city". Unfortunately much of my yard is shaded so my garden is small. Shading is one problem with the idea of building 50 story sky-scraper greenhouses in the city. Tall greenhouses could not be built like regular skyscrapers because there would not be enough light getting to the plants. There is still some good potential with vertical greenhouses but they will have to be designed differently and will not produce as much (per square foot) as some currently envision.
I like that the fellow in the video grows fish as well for a source of high quality protein.
City gardening has a lot of potential and I have seen some of my friends try it out but not have much success. It is not as simple as putting a plant in some dirt, watch it grow, and eat the fruit. It is part science and part art form to grow a good garden. It is at least a part time job if you want good results. Still, I encourage people to try it out, if even just some potted tomato plants.

Yeah me too. I'm currently a vegan, but would definitely add fish to my diet if I could be certain it was free of pollutants.I like that the fellow in the video grows fish as well for a source of high quality protein.
We don't have a lot acres on our decommissioned Air Force Base (it was a small radar base) so green houses would be just the thing for us. I'm really interested to know how well the heating with compost works and plan to call them about it soon. I never heard of heating green houses this way and wonder how effective it is.
May be if you pass through Milwaukee one of these days you could take a tour of the place.

I'm a broke ex-convict, but I'm trying to interest certain people in setting up a green living center similar to the one the New College of California tried where we would, among other things, have green houses like in the video. See attachment (if you click on the attachments they blow to readable size) below. I'll let you guys know if I'm successful. Thanks for your interest in this. I figure green living, communal living, etc., is a necessary part of the program for achieving longer, happier, life spans.I want to build green houses like shown in this ABC news video,
