Hi,

Regading the bands coming, we apparently don't have yet any confirmation.
May i suggest to propose local bands ? One of you talked about a friend who is a DJ. any others ?
Fighting aging is not "in fashion" so it is not easy to convince famous bands to come, being paid a few/nothing for a project without media attention.

Plus some bands could use this event as a "springboard" (?). What do you think ?

I totally agree here about the local bands. Depending on the scale of the event you should definitely involve local bands who have their own smaller scenes, with the majority of fans from the city it's taking place in, drawing local crowds who may just simply want to hear good music (who will hear the message if they like it or not). It would be good for the budget as these bands wouldn't cost much to hire, and they could definitely use it as a 'springboard' like you said .fonclea. DJs playing later on in the night is a must if the party is going late IMO. I don't know what local drinking/serving alcohol regulations involve also but that's something to think about too.

I would prefer not to have extreme genres of music (e.g. techno).

Why? Obviously not hardcore techno or anything too genre specific, but house and trance music are worldwide phenomenon and appeal to most festival-goers in my experience (and I've been to a lot of festivals, albeit in Canada and the US). The Virgin music festival is a great example of a very successful tour that mixed rock and electronic music, and there are countless others. Sometimes rock gets boring later on into the night and electronic music mixes very well as far as partying goes if not a drawing attraction all on it's own. PLENTY of European DJs that have huge followings to choose from!! Again, locals could be considered.

May i leave a message on the french Myspace proposing local bands to partecipate ?
1-I can explain in a few words what it is regarding, leave a link, listed some conditions like previous experiences and propose them to send a record about their work or a link ?
2 -Once we have selected a couple of bands, then we can easier calculate the cost for the concert.

Honnestly we must not have "la folie des grandeurs" (english? ;) ).
For a first concert don't expect to make a lot of money so minimum of cost.
there will be maximum 400 peoples coming if we are well organised.
This concert is like a test and can be reorganised next year if it is all right.

We already have a logo wich is easy to stamp on shirt, now we have to know the coast for production for i guess more or less 100 copies.
We could make a test and propose it on line ?

:~ ?????

PS the group on facebook is in dutch, i would be pleased to invite friends of mine but they won't understand. :~

Im doing the same thing in myspace, no luck yet but when I buckle in on it more I expect to find around 5 applicants. If you get a hold of any fonclea I would tell them that they have to be interviewed by Sven first. Tell them its for a benefit and they would get exposure but if they seem like they want pay then tell them that a pay would be considered.

How is the equipment coming along? Is the money secured to rent it yet? Also what is the venue? Like a 400 seat theater or a pavilion in a park type thing?

I gave all those details on my thread ;) i even gave links for all site related to life extention, explaining clearly the goal. We can't expect a good show from people not feeling confident with the subject either.

I will continue to inquiary but i will also try to see on forum for professional or musicians.

Which thread is that exactly? This is the one Im going by.

http://longecity.com/concert/

From what I see there is no specific venue yet.

- reserving space (Outside or inside? stadium, grassland, room)

and the money for the equipment says,

Not done

Im wondering how things are coming along, like if you guys are trying to decide between a park or concert hall, how much money you may have already and how much more you need, and stuff like that. I can get more help and resources for this if I have a better idea. I suggest holding a discussion for this weekly in the imminst ustream. If you want to set a meeting for it then let me know.

Hello

We have decided to change our plan. This year we will organize a small festival (+/- 200 people). The budget for this small festival is between 3000 and 4000 euro (3866 and 5154$). The big festival will be rescheduled to next year. The reason for this change is the lack of finding a good location, too little time to organize such a big festival and we need time to collect money. I have a meeting next week with the person who is in charge of a room that we can rent for the small festival called "De Kuip" in Ninove. I have already found a location for the big festival but it's not yet decided if we will stick to it. This room can hold 2500 people.

Broken, the board had been made by agevivo, the best idea so far. ;o)

From the beginning i was also thinking of a small festival, the best test for the next year. ;)
I continue on my space and other website to inquiary for a band with experiences on stage.

1. So,
* * * * *
SENS4: September, Thursday 3-Monday 7, Cambridge (England)
Imminst congress 2009: August 30th??, ?? England?
European Life-Extension Concert (Life Aid Against Aging): September, Saturday 12, Ninove, Belgium
* * * * *

2. Groups?

3. I discussed with someone working in a company that does not organize concerts but sells artists to people who decide to create concerts. The list of artists is on the website (http://www.azimuthprod.com/), it is approx 1000€ for an artist (can be more depending on the artist/group). However the person was telling me that if we want to reorganize the even next year we'd better contact artists ourselves to get a feeling with them and make more artists aware of Heales.

Live Aid Against Aging, Saturday September 12th, near Brussels

Live Aid Against Aging is organized by Heales, the Healthy Life Extension Society, whose goal is to promote healthy life extension.
Brussels, apart from being a lovely little city, is a cultural and political center in Europe, so a great place to spread the cause.

If you see a life-extension-related facebook group that doesn't have the message, don't hesitate to add it yourself. Thks!

When you want to come to our festival then send me an e-mail so that I have an idea about how many people will come. I hope that I can arrange something with a local hotel to get a reduction.

I cant find the itinerary and price and schedule and all that.

Maybe you could make a graphic and request for it to be run on the front page here with a link to an itinerary on a set page. You could use the imminst wiki if you want to.

This would be a great item to release in the imminst newsletter too if we can get somebody to work with that more any time soon. The person who was developing has become busy with other things at this time. If anybody is interested in making/helping with the newsletter then let us know HERE.

- For those who come by train and don't want to pay a night at the hotel: the first train from Ninove to Brussels is at 06:53 am. While the music stops at 5 am there will then be an informal talk so you can stay in the concert place (and discuss) meanwhile. There is an earlier train at 05:16 am from Denderleeuw, North of Ninove, but we'd then drive you by car because walking there takes more than an hour ;-)

- For those who are driving: no alcohol, and beware of tiredness: falling asleep while driving happens. This is not a *life-reduction* concert...

And before the festival Aubrey and s123 are giving both a lecture. It will be starting at 15.00 pm.
You all are invited to come to this lectures too. :)

edit:

Mabey the starting times of the lectures will be changed. I'll keep you updated :)
