Dear II community,
I’ve put a free multimedia edition of my new novel “The Book of Adam: Autobiography of the First Human Clone” on http://www.robhopper.com. The “official” publication date is September 25, 2010, but in the meantime I’d love to get more thoughts from experts in the field of life extension for this story.
Adam’s autobiography explores our search for identity and immortality. Written fifty years after his birth, the book depicts a world in which it becomes common to have your genetic twin born after your death. His story includes the bigotry he faces as a youth, haunting dreams of the man from whom he was cloned, and his inner search for his “soul” -- a search shadowed by his fear of death, and by a multigenerational family drama in which, like the House of Atreus, the players seem fated to struggle with the sins of the father.
Although primarily dealing with the personal and societal issues of human cloning, the story is set from 2034 to 2085, so in the latter years the major social revolutions involve life extension due to medical advancements, increasing interaction with artificial intelligence, the first cryonic success, and the gradual dawn of artificial bodies. The next two books of the trilogy will deal more in depth with the unfolding world of artificial bodies and the eventual leap into artificial minds.
If you have any questions or would like a PDF file, or a hard copy if you’re interesting in reviewing it, please let me know. Thank you so much for your time!
Sincerely,
Robert M. Hopper
