(1.)Laser Ablation of Liposfuscin Research Fundraiser - Part of Research Goal: Study the effects of a specialized laser beam in the destruction of one of the damages that build up and cause us to age, Lipofuscin.

The first fundraiser was a success, your success, thanks to you the Longecity community. It raised 8 thousand dollars and was matched by Longecity with another 8 thousand. The project is currently ongoing and can be kept up with at this link.It also spun out this collectors t shirt commemorating the achievement of our first substantial research support. (2.)Mitochondrial Uncoupling Research Fundraiser - Part of Research Goal: See if chemical uncoupling can be used to significantly reduce mitochondrial ROS production in vivo.

The second fundraiser was also a success, your success, thanks to you the Longecity community. This one raised 4 thousand dollars and was also matched by Longecity, with 4 thousand more. This fundraiser was completed in August 2010. The research is currently getting going and can be kept up with here in its dedicated Longecity forum section.

Here is an interview that Longecity conducted with the projects head researcher:

Here is a thank you to all who donated making the go ahead for this crucial brand of project possible:

(3.) Microglial Stem Cell Therapy Research Fundraiser - Part of Research Goal: to replace non-functional microglia with new and young cells.

This was probably our biggest and most important research support to date. The project raised around 8 thousand dollars. Longecity (we were still imminst when this fundraiser started) matched every dollar donated for a total of another 8 thousand matching. You can keep up with this project in its dedicated Longecity forum section as well. Thanks again to all the unlimited lifespans supporters who have made yet another research fundraiser toward the goal a great success. You demonstrate that you not only dream, but you act, and you inspire in the process.

I have the following suggestions and observations:

  • This info should be made into a "Projects" page linked from the top menu of every page
  • The Laser Ablation of Lipofuscin Research Fundraiser needs to be linked to its own page like the other two fundraisers
  • The Microglial Stem Cell Therapy Research Fundraiser isn't the "biggest" fundraiser to date; it's the same size (i.e., $8k plus an $8k match) as the Laser Ablation of Lipofuscin Research Fundraiser

I wanted to link to a laser ablation page too, but it has a variety of pages. We’ll need to create one using content from a variety of them. I created this list because I was getting the impression that some people might confuse Microglial with Mitochondrial and not realize that this is a third fundraiser, rather than one long ongoing fundraiser. Im also afraid that some people might not realize that we have only done three. Some people might get the impression that research fundraisers are common place and that we have them all the time and that they just sort of automatically take care of themselves in the day to day activity in the forum, raising all of their money at consistent rates. That isn’t the case though, this is still part of the upstart of our research support ventures. The future of our research support might depend on us making our start here with these three a success. If this one fails, it might throw a monkey wrench into the future of funding projects like these. Its doing alright though. We’re getting there.

If we turn it into a page then I can also see that these things should be added and changed in it. We'll work on this. Ill send it to the editors for seconding and probably run it past the board and then create the page and tab.

- An “a” next to 2010 in the second banner,
- Embed the Nason interview with the first one
- Fix the t shirt link so it shows up as a picture and link it to its cafepress order page
- Fix one of the laser ablation articles as a mainstay so it can be linked to the first ones title
- Link each goal to the original proposals
- Change all instances of imminst to longecity, there is atleast one in the first section
- Reword the “biggest project” part of the third one so it reflects more directly that it’s the biggest research project and not biggest fundraiser.

The referendum for the fourth project is going on right now. We can fund these because of all of your support. Your members dues, the great discussions that you provide, the traffic you create, your support allows these research projects to be possible. Discuss them where you can, spread the word, they are your achievements. Join as a member when you can. There are a lot of exciting opportunities to take even more of a part in.
